Ex-****ing-zactly! If you bring the deck up, is it really not in the ground. If you can run next to it and jump in, you're good. And my down-the-street neighbor has turned his whole yard into an Oasis, and it's pure-T ****ing awesome! And the pink flamingos make it even ****ing cooler!

Larger pumps, filters, and pipes that give better circulation along with larger skimmers that would eliminate surface stuff.

Larger bodies of water don't vary as quickly in terms of chemical composition. Chemicals in spas are the hardest to take care of. Large pools are actually much easier (but more expensive because you do use more chemicals).

They're far more expensive, but a modern pool can be operated from your cell phone with the right stuff on it.

Eh, our biggest pool is 40,000 gallons and I've seen our chlorine level fluctuate as much as 4ppm in one day.

But it's not modern by any means, we have to keep it clean the old fashioned way. It can be a lot of damn work sometimes.

yes. Pros: snakes have a more difficult time getting in.

cons: it's above ground

What I've learned today is that ChiefsPlanet is a soup of indefatigable holier-than-thou idiocy on any topic imaginable.

It took you seven years to learn that?

Dad's got a 27' x 54". He built his deck out around it. I say don't go with the plain light blue liner. Too easy to tell when it fades. The shock and other chemicals can get pricy, especially when initially opening the pool each year. Just have to spend a few hours a week to upkeep.

Oh, and the only major downfall would be birds. Dad cut down two trees in his back yard.

Dad just got rid of his hot tub. It was nice, but it just got to where it wasn't worth the energy and added expense it took for upkeep. He prefers the pool, so he sold the hot tub.

That is a long, skinny pool.

It's a circle, silly. 27' in diameter and 54" deep.

Oh, that makes sense. For a second there I thought it looked like a short one lane lap pool. Would be perfect for training special Olympic swimmers.

Wise move. Hot tubs are festering cesspools of filth.
