So I read on this site that having a franchise QB is all that matters. I also read here that Rivers is a franchise QB. So, does the team around the QB actually matter? Or is Rivers severely over rated on CP?

Rivers cannot take two sacks on that final drive. They were five yards out of FG range, which then turned into 20. |

Do you pay any attention? Damn near their entire team is injured. They started 4 different LTs IN THE SAME GAME. They've started 29 different offensive lineman over the past 5 seasons, which is the most in the league. Rivers is basically working with a Skelton crew, patchwork offensive line of fatties off the street, and below average defenses year after year.. And they still tend to go 7-9 to 9-7. I'd say he's a ****ing miracle worker. |
Chargers too distracted with moving plans.

They really have been on the decline the past 5 seasons, and have been decimated by injuries this season. The only reason they've managed to be average throughout is because of Rivers. A Franchise QB can keep you competitive by hiding weaknesses in most cases, but if the team relies on that as it's only consistent asset, over time it's not enough. |
At this point i really feel bad for them. The amount of injuries over the past two seasons is insane. This season...i've never in all my years of watching football have seen anything like this.
They have so many injuries and every week another significant starter goes down. It's almost like a running gag at this point. It's unreal. They're legitimately playing with 2nd-4th stringers all through out their roster. Again, i've never seen anything like this in all my years of watching football. This has to be the worst string of bad luck injuries i've ever seen. ....and yet they're still competitive because of Rivers. Shows how much a franchise Qb matters. |
