I found it kind of funny that i didnt see Herm sitting there. Dude is gone, he just didnt want to show that he's a goner when the spotlight is on him.

I'm not impressed by this charade. This day will go down as a black mark in the history of this proud, proud franchise. From great leaders like Marty Schottenheimer and Gunther Cunningham to this blatant attempt to Patsify the fanbase.
The Belichickification of the Chiefs has begun, men. :( |
Now I'm ready for the beheading!
|
is there a transcript buried in here? if so, can a mod please paste it into the OP to save the remaining folks the time of scouring for it?
|
is 810 in repeat now?

I liked the Guy, very well spoken and didnt come off as a pompus ass... This guy is miles, actually light years ahead of anything the Chiefs have tried over the last 20 years...
I think he is honest and has HIS plan on how he wants to build this team... He didnt seem to have an EGO (unlike Herm or Carl) and will do what he thinks is right. Once he fires Herm, This franchise will finally slow down and start turning back towards the light... The death spiral is almost over... One more move and we have check mate! |

I hope he wears a flak jacket the day he informs Gun his services are no longer needed. Better yet, do it over the internet. Smartest thing Carl ever did.

I was very impressed with the press conference. I actually think Clark gets it, which is just as important as if Pioli does.

unfortunatly that tradition continues. both Clark and Pioli were wearing them on thier lapels. |

I really don't see how Pioli can keep him around... there's a smugness around Arrowhead, and Herm has/had just as much to do with it as Carl. |
Good press conference. He is definitely light years ahead of Carl.

Herm sealed his fate when he complained about the distraction of breaking in a new GM. ROFL
Wearing his stocking cap backwards, his body lanquage at Carls farewell get together etc. His absence today, follows that trend. I hope he ends up with the Raiders. |

why are they repeating the press conference?

I think Pioli's ace in the hole is Kirk Ferentz. There is no way Kirk leaves for any other NFL gig, if he leaves it will be to join up with Scott which has to be the best situation for a guy like Ferentz to come to the NFL.
That said Pioli can talk to Herm, get his thoughts on our players, make a decision and fire Herm. When that's done Pioli will look at who is available and and go with a Schwartz or Sprags, and if those guys are gone, he goes with Ferentz. I got the sense that he's confident he can get his man. How refreshing. I'm not worried at all. |

This fanbase needs HOPE, it has been beaten down to almost nothing over the last 3 years... You cant resell Herm to the fanbase, your credibility is riding on it... How can we spend money and trust you are going to do the right thing when you allow the HC ( whom stabbed the last GM in the back and is sucking on the teets of the owner ) to continue to drive the fanbase further away from your new franchise... |

Pioli's "talk" with Herm:
"Do you need help cleaning your office out?" |
[QUOTE=the Talking Can;5391099]810 made a great point...he was asked about KC's personnel guys...Pioli said "they're competent"....that is not an endorsement, that is not praise...that is borderline contempt...
same with Herm...what is most important is what Pioli didn't say, he didn't praise anyone but Clark.... I agree with this, I also caught when he said we needed to start over and build a solid foundation.Isnt that what Herm has said he's been doing? If they had any faith in Herm I think they would have said "We are going to continue to bulid on what Herm has started" or something to that extent. |
It is interesting that on the Chiefs' website that have quotes from people around the league praising Pioli... the one guy they don't have a quote from is Herm.

But in the end he will go. This year. Call it professional courtesy. Don't doubt that Pioli's signing yesterday didn't get several coach's agents rethinking their positions. Taking a step back to look at the card table is a good move. I have no hate for Herm but I really think Pioli at this point is doing the right thing by looking the situation over. |
This Cowboy guy on 610 is an idiot.
He says we will lose the young players if they don't bring Herm back. |
We'll have a transcript up tonight.

I wonder if this Nick Wright guy looks like he has down syndrome.

Congratulations on the Pioli hire.
The only way I see him retaining Herm is if the plan is to ensure another year of high draft picks and then make Herm the fall guy. That would give Pioli two drafts to build a solid foundation and a year to gain experience as a GM. Doesn't taste too good right now, but it might be worth it. In all likelihood Pioli is just being politically correct and will give Herm a chance to save face and make a deal with Clark to do the honorable thing and resign. Herm, being the weasel that he is, will hang on for the full 3 million he'll receive if he's terminated, then he will use his press contacts to play the race card . Good riddance! Hey - if Pioli is REALLY good he will trade Herm for a draft pick. Nahh - no one could be stupid enough to give up a valuable draft pick for Herm. Again - great pickup for the Chiefs and a 99.999% probability that Herm will be gone very shortly. |

I don't see Herman and Scott working together effectively. Scott is the straight-A, distinguished-honors student, and Herman is the barely passing regular core plan student. Herman doesn't see things for what they really are; He cannot see past the surface. Conversely, Scott seems to already see the Chiefs for what they are - a wreck, for top to bottom, including the front office. Herman does have passion for what he does, and I do believe that he gave his best effort in KC. But Herman's style is old; His conservative nature represents the old league. The new NFL is a complex organization with high-powered people controlling it, and thousands of smaller people running it. The coaches that are most effective are the ones who are innovative and willing to change. Good football teams change every season because that's what is needed to win consistently. Scott recognizes that, and I believe he work toward modernizing the Chiefs, starting by selecting a new head coach.

The Chiefs made a great pickup in Pioli and he'll surely rid the organization of Herm in short order. |

Professor Bob Moore is pathetic in this press conference.
|
Good lord, this guy is so completely different from Peterson. This is great stuff.
|
Listening to the press conference again...
There is going to be a dramatic change in the Chiefs' organizational philosophy. The Chiefs during Carl's reign [with the probable exception of Vermeil's offense] have been a team that attempted to collect outstanding athletes and the coaches job was to motivate them to play hard and win one-on-one match-ups. The Pioli way is going to be quite different -- going after smart, disciplined guys who may not be quite as athletic but can be counted on to do their ****ing job, and the coaches' job will be to get the players to execute flawlessly. Needless to say, Herm doesn't fit. |

this seemed to be the order of importance 1) is the guy a team player 2) does he fit our system 3) how athletic is he This team is going to blown completely apart. |

Thank you Don Pioli, and Welcome To Kansas City! |
