Not trolling, but he wasn't exactly tearing up AA. Can anybody comment on that? It just seems rushed from the outside looking in.

Machado leaves Bowie with a 9-gm batting streak during which he went 16-for-33 with 3 2Bs, 2 3Bs, 3 HRs and 7 RBIs. |

Bringing Machado up now caught everyone by surprise, so in that sense I guess you could say they rushed him. But this is a seriously flawed team that's unexpectedly in the hunt, so I think there's nothing to lose by doing it now. He was gonna be here in September anyway, so he's only three weeks premature.

Also, I'd imagine if these were the usual August Orioles, 20 games out and going nowhere, they wouldn't have done it. If he's not seen as The Savior (as Wieters was three years ago) he may be able to slide right in there and contribute.
EDIT: If he boots the ball at 3B and doesn't hit, it's really no worse than what's been happening there all season. :) |
Big game tonight with the tigers losing the O's can take over the first wild card.

Wow machado bringing the thunder. Must temper expectations.

It's Eddie Murray night. Here's the stream of the statue unveiling.
http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?to...nt_id=23690039 In case someone comes in here who's not an O's fan (unlikely), the six Orioles Hall of Famers are being honored this year, each getting a statue at the park. Frank Robinson, Earl Weaver, and Jim Palmer are already done, and Cal Ripken and Brooks Robinson are to follow Eddie in September. |

He's a great prospect and hitter, no argument. But I wouldn't get excited about his performance against a career AAAA pitcher. Plus, you will have to deal with his inevitable slump after pitchers adjust to him, etc. My advice, as someone who has been down this road, is to stay even-keel through the good times and bad.

I don't think they play tonight.

Orioles tell the crowd here that they expect to announce a game time soon. Play ball soon at the Yard it looks like. |
Eduardo A. Encina @EddieInTheYard
First pitch scheduled for 9:35 p.m. #Orioles |
Manny love what i see.. 16AB with 3 Hr 1 Triple 2 Doubles and a single..
62-53 Maybe Tuesday night the O's can get to 10 games over. |
I'm looking at the schedule a month ahead. Maybe I shouldn't do that.
BOS @DET @TEX TOR CHI @MFY @TOR MFY TB @OAK The O's had better pull on their big boy pants. Not necessarily to fight for the playoffs, but to keep from being flat-out embarrassed. |

Steve Melewski @masnSteve
Gausman today at Aberdeen: 3 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks and 3 strikeouts. 30 pitches, 20 strikes. Impressive. Steve Melewski @masnSteve Sounds like the Orioles are open to Kevin Gausman possibly moving up from Aberdeen but they still want his outings to be just 3 IP. Steve Melewski @masnSteve Rick Peterson very impressed by Gausman today "That was really special. The guys with fastball-changeups, they can fly through systems." |
Oh, I'm not giving up at all, because they certainly won't. This season has been a blast so far and I'll have no regrets regardless of the outcome, excluding a total collapse. I'm trying to figure out what we have here, and I think it's a generally bad baseball team that plays good baseball more often than not. If that makes any sense.
AND: Even now, after Chen and Tillman got lit up this weekend, If the season ended today, they'd be preparing for a playoff game in St. Petersburg. And the mortal-lock Tigers and Angels would be preparing their golf clubs. Crazy. |

Bundy makes first start at Bowie tonight.
|
Steve Melewski @masnSteve
Bundy gets Erie 1-2-3 in the first on 8 pitches. Hit 95 and 96 on gun getting groundout, shallow fly out, fly out. Steve Melewski @masnSteve Bundy with a 1-2-3 second on just 14 pitches. Has 22 thru 2. |
Where the **** did Quesadilla get all this power from?

Nick Piecoro @nickpiecoro
Still lots of speculation on Baltimore being most logical fit for Saunders. Rumored to have been interested in him a while now. Expand Nick Piecoro @nickpiecoro RT @azbobbymac: Dbacks appear to have found a trading partner for LHP Joe Saunders. May be scratched from Sunday's start, source tells me. |
Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS

Baltimore Orioles @Orioles
The Orioles have acquired LHP Joe Saunders & cash from Arizona for RHP Matt Lindstrom & a player to be named later. |

Buck Showalter as manager of the Orioles
173-173 in 346 games as Oriole manager. In the 346 games prior to his taking over, they were 122-224. |
3.5 games behind the yankees. Texiera just injured his calf could miss this series and the next.
|
Nick failed twice to get a guy in, everyone sucked with RISP, they booted the ball around some, Strop was shaky in the 8th, Chen gave up the bomb to Youkilis, Andino was terribly overmatched, and still they beat the Sox with Lew Ford and Nate McLouth. This weirdness continues.

http://www.camdenchat.com/2012/8/29/...undy-after-all
Orioles probably won't call up Dylan Bundy after all There's been a lot of speculation about what the Orioles might or might not do with Dylan Bundy, who is already on the 40-man roster, once September call-ups can happen. Indeed, the most recent specific rumor before today, posted by MASN writers, was that Bundy could be called up on August 31 and start a game on September 6. There was much excitement about this prospect. However, today there was some cold water thrown on that idea, as that same MASN dynamic duo, Roch Kubatko and Steve Melewski, tweeted some comments from manager Buck Showalter regarding the fate of Bundy. Apparently, the Orioles' current plan is to send Dylan Bundy to instructional league. Buck told reporters that Bundy is "making great progress" but "still has things to work on". Why did an Orioles source a week ago float a trial balloon through MASN reporters only to come ahead and decide this now? I don't know, man. There is also the outside possibility that even now, Dan Duquette has the organization engaged in some kind of Belichickian subterfuge, as if in an attempt to lull the Orioles' September opponents into a false sense of security and then, whammo, Bundy will stride in to save the day. EDIT: This tweet from Baltimore Sun reporter Eduardo Encina elaborates on some of the things that they feel Bundy needs to work on before getting big league action: @EddieInTheYard Showalter said Bundy's has progressed well, still has things to work on like times to plate, holding runners, working from stretch, control. So, probably it means what they say and we won't see Bundy in the major leagues this year after all. Obviously, after adding a pitcher like Randy Wolf, which they are expected to finalize tonight, there was just no room for the young Bundy. Now we can all go back to freaking out about something else for a while, like the fact that if the Orioles somehow win the next two games against the White Sox, they will begin their weekend series against New York two games back in the American League East. |
72-58 big win taking 3 out of 4 vs white sox huge. 3 GB of MFY Big 3 Games vs yanks.
