The best thing that could happen for the Chiefs is to start a rookie QB under center this season. Namely starting Geno Smith. |
I was waiting to see who would fall for that.
|
Start a rookie, you will be swept in the AFCW next year... You heard it here first

Alex Smith would be winning this SB right now.

R8ers, you've hooked 2 so far.

For every 'blackbob' that is removed, 2 other reeruns compete to replace.

How do you take his job away |
QB's should never be drafted in the first round. Never worth the risk.
|
Alex Smith cannot attack down the field.

Goes to show that these running QB's aren't worth a damn.
Give me a pure pocket passer. Also, Alex Smith ****ing sucks. |

Alex Smith is a good example that the Jags should stick with Gabbert for atleast 3 more years. He will eventually get it.
|
Look at how the veteran QB is playing in the Super Bowl compared to the young dude. The Chiefs should take Smith. I've been a Chief fan for 3 years and if they don't win the Super Bowl next year I AM DONE....

2011/21012 Alex Smith=2008/2010 Matt Cassel |

And he was actually averaging over 12 yards a completion. |

Alex Smith 2012: 7.97 average yards
Geno Smith 2012: 8.1 average yards WITH STEDMON BAILEY AND TAVON AUSTIN |
Maybe the jags should look at smith, since gabbert a contract is so small. Easy to get around. He would fit there nicely

I'm not saying they WON'T trade him or let him go, I'm just saying they would be stupid to do it. |

Smith would free up 7.5 and they are only 3.5 under cap. You're an idiot if you are making that comparison. |
Quote:
My point is that if the Niners trade/release Smith based on his cap number, then they are lazy, incompetent, or just want him gone. The cap is easily mauvered these days, and 7.5 mil is not a death warrant of a cap number for a quarterback to carry. I'm no Alex Smith fan by any stretch, but the way they run Kaepernick, they'd be dumb to let a guy like Smith go that can come off the bench and not miss a beat. It would be bad team management, plain and simple. |

Most of the time, a team will let a QB find a new team if he wants to start. That'll probably happen with Smith.

It really doesn't matter what you think though. Because what you think should happen, isn't happening. |

Bill Williamson: "ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the 49ers will try to trade Alex Smith as opposed to releasing him. Schefter reports the Chiefs will be one of the teams interested.
I totally agree. The Chiefs have long been connected to Smith. There are no sure things in the draft, and getting a veteran such as Smith may be the Chiefs’ best option for the immediate future." |

Although, I don't really get where this is coming from. Based on the backgrounds of Reid and Dorsey, they are far more likely to draft a QB than bring in a f/a.
|
NFL Philosophy @NFLosophy
The one hindrance on trading Alex Smith lies in his contract:$7.5M salary, $1M roster bonus. It all becomes guaranteed on April 1st. |

How is this any different than what Pioli did with Cassel?
Why does the national media always think it's better for the Chiefs to grab a free agent qb than the draft? |
