Hoch in the handshake line. Every guy should have kicked him in the ass on the way back to the dugout.

lewdog 07-08-2013 09:14 PM

Man, he is just nasty.

Hitting 99 on consecutive pitchers then a nasty slider.

kc rush 07-08-2013 09:14 PM

Saved Hoch's ERA.

DeezNutz 07-08-2013 09:14 PM

I wouldn't trade Holland for Machado, Wieters, and a healthy Bundy, even though the O's have been rumored to offer this.

Demonpenz 07-08-2013 09:14 PM

Struck out the side. Thats what filth do.

GloryDayz 07-08-2013 09:14 PM

Hey New York.... The whole world hates you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-King- 07-08-2013 09:14 PM

James Shields is funny to me. He seems like the most laid back guy in the league.

He's been almost unhittable. Didn't he strike out the side in his last appearance as well?

duncan_idaho 07-08-2013 09:20 PM

What a slam-the-door performance from Greg Holland. Again... that's why the elite closers have big-time strikeout potential.

I don't know if there's another closer in the league who is more suited to slam the door in that spot (2 on, no out) without giving up a run.

Also, Luke Hochevar can go fist himself. First time he gets put in a semi-pressure situation and he folds like the mental moron he is.

tk13 07-08-2013 09:21 PM

In his last 7 IP Holland has allowed 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, and has 17 K. That's 81% of his outs coming by strikeout. He may really be as dominant as anyone to ever wear a Royals uniform.

Maybe if they also included Xavier Avery, I would consider it...

He is better right now than Joakim Soria was, even at his best. Crazy.

I think he was better than Soria ever was each of the last two years. Two years ago he was unhittable and last year he still posted a sub-3 ERA and struck out 90+, which I don't think Soria ever came close to. For some reason he's kind of flown under the radar in terms of national attention. Granted he didn't get the closer role until last year.

TambaBerry 07-08-2013 09:24 PM

Did they really offer that?

By striking out 3 of 4 batters tonight, Holland's K rate jumps to 44.7%, which is now 3rd all-time. If he K's his next hitter, he'll be 2nd.

Great game. We have a great chance to finish above .500 by the all star break. #hellyeahmofoitfeelsgoodtobeaRoyalsfan
