If a team that doesn't usually win the TO battle runs into a wounded duck launcher one weekend, the team with the duck launcher beat may have beaten themselves. And that's not just as a Chiefs fan. The Packers went from their 4 game slide to running the table off having ZERO ZERO ZERO TOs while forcing 15 or so in the last 7 games. |
The plan should be to get up early on them and force them to abandon the run. Their secondary is not good and Conley, Hill, Kelce and Maclin are all trustworthy receivers in 1v1 coverage.
I'm moving Sorenson in the box as the 8th man while bracketing Brown. I would rush a 9th player every so often on a sneak blitz on 1st downs to help stop Bell. I think our offense can score on them and if Houston is healthy I think he's putting pressure on Big Ben often. |
Houston-Jones-Poe-Hali/Ford
Sorenson-March-Wilson Peters-Nelson-Parker-Berry-Mitchell *This is who I expect to garner the most snaps - One of Berry/Parker will help on Brown always - Nelson mans slot - Sorenson on Bell out of backfield, Parker if he splits wide. - Our safeties can handle James/Green - Our corners can handle Heyward-Bey/Hamilton - Must get pressure with 4 |

Might be the most flawed statistic in all of professional sports. Anyone else remember that game against the Eagles where Matt Cassel went something like 14/18 for 90 yards and a TD? His QB rating that day was like 135. On a day in which he lost by 20+ points. I stand corrected, it IS the most flawed statistic in professional sports. |
The Chiefs have beaten better teams than the Steelers this year on the road (Atlanta, for one).
Reid is 19-2 off the bye. This isn't the same team, at all, that was beat on the road in Pittsburgh back in September. It'll be a tough game but the Chiefs will win. |
Tim Tebow beat the Steelers in the playoffs
Chiefs better embarrass these ****ers |

I only stayed awake all the way through the Packer's game, and it was mostly in awed bemusement at NY shooting itself in the foot. A fumble sits at your feet, and you decide to go get in line for a late game hot dog? Dafuq? |

Personally, I'd sell out to contain Bell and force Ben to beat me. If Bell has room, we're going to have to have the biggest offensive outburst of the season. |

As I just said in a related thread, they beat two teams this year with a winning record (Chiefs and Giants) and just beat the 29th ranked defense, at home, vs. a backup QB. They're a good team but they're going to be severely tested at Arrowhead. And the Chiefs have Terrance Mitchell across from Peters this time, not Phil Gaines. Ford hit his stride, as has Jones, Berry and Sorenson. Houston might help out a bit, too. |

It's going to be tough, I'm glad that I'm going to this game to see an epic divisional game and hopefully payback. I won't be surprised if we don't win, but I want us to beat Todd Haley's ass so bad for what they did to us earlier in the year, and I want us to get another shot at the Patriots.
|
God I hope the Chiefs use all of this pro-Steelers talk to their advantage and just feed off of it.
One would argue that there should be enough motivation for the Chiefs by simply being in this game, but goddamn I know I'm going to be sick of every media pundit essentially penciling in the Steelers into the AFC Championship Game, so I hope the Chiefs at least feed off of it to amp themselves up even more. This is going to be a rough week. |
There is a lot of respect for KC from Steeler fans:

In what way? I didn't realize they were shit simply because they beat a Miami team that isn't talented enough to overcome a backup QB and freezing temps. We're not the same team from the September matchup, but neither are they. Their defense has improved dramatically. This game comes down to two things: The best RB on the planet vs. the 26th ranked run defense. Alex Smith being aggressive at all times and putting pressure on the Steelers secondary. |
Everyone seems to put a lot of weight in one early season game, therefore many games worth of mediocre QB play on the road should hold a lot of weight.
Amped crowd, Reid off a bye, amped, bloodthirsty team looking for revenge. 31-17 KC. |

No doubt Pittsburgh needs to be respected. But a few advantages the Chiefs have that can get them over the top here:
-Home field/noise -Big advantage in special teams. Toussaint is a jag returner, Brown won't get much from Colquitt. Hopefully long fields all night for Pitt. No need to discuss Hill's impact, but we must force punts. -Coaching. Reid and staff will scheme well and I trust they used the bye time off effectively. -Relative health. Ware, Houston, March and Hali will arguably be in better condition than they have all season. -Secondary evolution. This team is better equipped to defend the Steelers now than back in week four. Miami's secondary had major breakdowns today - the Chiefs are more athletic and tackle better. -And the biggest reason in my opinion: we will take care of the ball. No gifts from us, sorry Steelers. When Miami had opportunities to climb back, they coughed up the ball. We all know Ben will put some up for grabs..... Should be an exciting game, and one these Chiefs can no doubt win. |

Awful weekend of football really. KC/Steelers should be a great game though. Looking forward to seeing whoever wins that game. I think either team will give the Patriots a helluva game -- unlike the Texans, who pretty clearly don't belong in the final 8 and will need a miracle to win at Gillette.

I'm concerned about the noise. If it is 30% pit fans that's 30% less noise which brings the arrowhead advantage close to other stadiums. Overall I agree with the optimism from everyone. I do however think some are short changing pit. Their defense is much better. Lead the league in sacks since week 7 I think. Schazer is a very good player and they didn't have him when they played us. If we can keep bell in check, not let them explode early, and play our special teams and turnover game, we have an awesome shot. If we get any huge plays from those two units then I really like our chances. Pit hasn't looked fantastic on the road. They are a capable of being a great offense though and Ben has seen it all. I don't expect to see the poor road Steelers. I expect a team ready to go. If I wasn't emotionally invested in this game I would say this is gonna be a fun game. Not sure if my nerves will describe it as such. |
Ben's probably out limping and raping. Bell's got his bong out. Night's not over.

Steelers assistant coach Joey Porter was arrested after Sunday's Wild Card win over the Dolphins.
Per the Beaver County Times' Chris Mueller, Porter was booked by police outside The Flats Bar on the South Side of Pittsburgh. The Steelers released a statement on Sunday night saying they are "aware" of the incident. The Steelers beat the Dolphins 30-12 on Sunday afternoon. A four-time Pro Bowl player, Porter has spent the last two years as Pittsburgh's outside linebackers coach. |

Chiefs fans need to yell while Steelers are in the huddle, NOT while just walking up to the line. Think someone posted about this a day or so ago. Need to make it to where those assholes can't hear shit.
Chiefs brass needs to send out a PSA about this. Very important lol. |
Hell, the Chiefs play better on the road. Maybe more Pitt fans will help them out.

Good old ESPN already has a couple of people previewing a Steelers-Patriots AFCCG. LMAO
This is outstanding, IMO. Let the disrespect flow. |

Chiefs could and should win. But they have to play 4 quarters. The way they've been playing on offense, if they can put up points in a hurry the way they have the last few weeks and Andy/Alex can keep the foot on the gas, we're in good shape. Even if our run D is worse than it was earlier in the game, we're actually in much better shape to stop their run because we can put up points and take Bell out earlier in ways we couldn't last game. |
WE ARE GONNA WIN THIS ONE, BITCH! HOW SURE AM I? I AM ALL CAPS SURE!
THE STEELERS PLAYED AT HOME AGAINST A DEFENSE THAT IS 30TH AGAINST THE RUN AND ASSAGE IN ALL OTHER STATS. THE FINS' NET POINTS ON THE SEASON WAS -17! THAT WAS A COLD, PHYSICAL GAME, WITH A LOT OF RUNNING AND A LOT OF FIGHTS. THE STEELERS MIGHT BE ALL "HEY WE WON!" TONIGHT BUT THYE ARE BEAT UP AND TIRED. MEANWHILE EVERY CHIEF WATCHED THAT GAME WITH A WARM SLICE OF PIZZA IN THEIR HANDS AND A HOT BABE ON THEIR LAP. REID'S AFTER A BYE WEEK AND ROTHELISRAPIST'S ROAD STATS SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO TELL YOU THAT WE WILL WIN. NOW IT'S YOUR JOB TO GET EVERY CHIEFS FAN YOU KNOW TO BUY ALL THE TICKETS TO KEEP THOSE YELLOW TOWEL WAVING NUT-GRABBERS OUT OF OUR STADIUM! CHIEFS ALL THE WAY BABY FTW!!!!!!!!1!!!!111!!!!!!ELEVENTY!!!!!!! |

I bet there will be a lot of Steeler fans. There definitely were quite a few tickets available through the Chiefs, and they're all gone suddenly this afternoon. The Chiefs actually dropped a lot of the ticket prices a few days ago $15-20. Not sure I've ever seen them do that before. I guessed they were trying to avoid a rush of Steeler fans. Not sure they made it. Maybe some of them were Chiefs fans waiting on seeing the matchup, but I'm skeptical. We knew we'd be playing PIT most likely... and thousands of tickets were sitting out there for decreased prices well before today.
That said... if there's a legit snow or ice storm, a good chunk of those Steeler fans probably aren't going to make it. |

**** the Steelers.

Well they think they're better than they were earlier in the year, but not sold on defense, said Miami offense is no good. But if they can beat New England and that offense then we'll know their defense is for real. No mention of KC. Apparently even if Pittsburgh wins next week THEY still wont be sold on the Pitt defense. |

Interesting stat: the Steelers have never won a playoff game against Kansas City.
|
Andy Reid after a bye 16-2, so no worries
|
Quote:
I also heard, however, that he's something like 2-7 in games where he plays the same team that blew him out by 14+ points in the regular season. Chiefs haven't won at home since 1993, but that team was the Pittsburgh Steelers who have never beat KC in the playoffs at Arrowhead. |
we'll be fine.
