lol.

Scherzer comes in, gets two outs, then the Cubs get two runs. Cubs lead 5-4.

tk13 10-12-2017 08:04 PM

Well so much for that. Just goes to show you how what Bumgarner did was insane.

KCUnited 10-12-2017 08:11 PM

Just need a balk now

A Dusty Baker team with a meltdown inning. Feels like we've seen this a time or 7.

2002 Giants in World Series - Removed Ortiz in Game 6, where Ortiz only allowed 4 hits.
2003 Cubs in NLCS - The Bartman Game.
2010 Reds in NLDS - Swept.

2016 Nationals - Failed to get out of NLDS.
2017 Nationals - Choked on a 4-1 lead.

I left the bar i was watching at to go home and finish the game in darkness by myself with a 12 pack after the bottom of the 3rd.

The Nats probably would be better off asking if Youppi! is available....

The problem is, "In the umpire's judgment" is pretty subjective these days.

Then that's a problem with the wording in the rule, not how it was called. Wieters slid over to try and block a pitch that was suppose to be outside, it wasnt some crazy wild back swing and it wasn't like he was squarely hit on the back of the head, his mask was barely grazed and didn't affect the play at all.

Actually, it was a back swing. He hit him on the backswing on the strike 3 passed ball.

penbrook 10-12-2017 09:00 PM

Werth should’ve scored if he wasn’t jogging

I never said he wasn't hit on the back swing. I said it wasn't a wild back swing and he was only grazed with it because he had to move over to try and block the ball that was supposed to be outside. It's a non issue.

jd1020 10-12-2017 09:04 PM

****ing Montgomery.

This bullpen is just dog shit.

What a game!! Cardiac kids coming back!!

Coach 10-12-2017 09:08 PM

And Babe Murphy doubles home a run. Runner on 3rd and 2nd.

tk13 10-12-2017 09:09 PM

This is about to get hairy. Wonder if Maddon will play his Quintana bullet somewhere here.

All the empty seats behind home plate makes it look like a regular season Pirates games.

Agreed. Minimum 4 hours for most of these playoff games. It's pretty stupid.

All the talk about making the games faster with these small tweaks. Juiced ball + specialized relievers and you get this.

jd1020 10-12-2017 09:31 PM

Oh god its Marmol Edwards.

tk13 10-12-2017 09:36 PM

This might be interesting. Bringing Quintana in but he'll have to pitch with a runner on, something he's not used to.

jd1020 10-12-2017 09:38 PM

Ride this horse all the way to Davis because Strop is already gone.

tk13 10-12-2017 09:43 PM

No way they bring in Wade Davis in the 7th right?

jd1020 10-12-2017 09:44 PM

If Quintana doesnt get out of this they pretty much dont have a choice because Maddon brought in all his late inning relievers so ****ing early. Definitely dont want to see Wilson in this game, he's been plain awful since being a Cub.

tk13 10-12-2017 09:45 PM

Everyone's all gung ho with this "bring your starter in out of the bullpen" idea but it sure hasn't been that effective in the playoffs. Lester last night was pretty good, but it's a lot more miss than hit.

scho63 10-12-2017 09:45 PM

This is a GREAT game and I'm no fan of either team

Chiefspants 10-12-2017 09:47 PM

Yeah, this has been a phenomenal contest.

jd1020 10-12-2017 09:48 PM

7 out save here we go. Channel that inner starting pitching Davis.

penbrook 10-12-2017 09:48 PM

Wade Davis for 2 1/3 innings. As Royals fans we all know this won’t end well for the Cubs

tk13 10-12-2017 09:48 PM

Lucky that pitch didn't end up in Baltimore.

ChiTown 10-12-2017 09:49 PM

Why is Davis pitching in the B7th?

Chiefspants 10-12-2017 09:49 PM

Let's see if Davis can become this generation's Rivera.

Because Maddon is out of bullets. Wade is amazing but it's asking a lot to make your closer sit down twice and come back 100%.

I don't know, the 2015 ALCS Game 6 is up there as well.

mr. tegu 10-12-2017 09:52 PM

I want Washington to win but I also don't want to see Davis give up the runs to lose. I am so confused now.

He also stupidly burned him in Game 4.

For as revered as Maddon is, I'd argue Yost was the better tachtician in 14-15 playoffs than Joe has been over the last two playoffs.
