West Virginia QB Geno Smith, projected by many to be the first quarterback drafted, is scheduled to visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday.

Not sure you bring in a guy like that and have him work out with the players. Doesn't seem like a good idea.

Dont know that. Look what Reid did to Detmer, Kolb, etc. He turned them into good qbs and than traded him for picks.

Andy likes to draft them early to prepare for issues down the road with contract disputes or egos. Thus the Detmer and Kolb, thus signing Vick and Young, etc. He likes to have his backups, which is why we have 4 QB's on this roster currently.

If we are picking 15-20 there should be.

You don't give up what we did to get a 29 year old Alex Smith to only win 6-8 games and be satisfied.

You don't pick 15-20 with 6 wins.

You certainly don't pick 20th with 8 wins, unless its a serious parity year.

He could be throwing to guys from the practice squad, 3rd stringers, local college guys, who knows.

I agree but damn take a future QB now. Let him sit. In case Alex cant do it. Dont like the idea of putting all eggs into an Alex Smith basket. I like the trade but would still take geno

We didn't put all of our eggs in one basket, we have 4 QB's on this roster already, drafting Geno would be more akin to putting all of our eggs in one basket in this draft today, than it would with Alex.

Why not? Who else would he work with? Wouldn't you want Geno throwing to your WRs and Charles if he's gona be your QB?

It can be a major burden for team balance to bring a guy in like Geno and have in practice with the guys on your team, and not draft him. Could disrupt the entire team dynamic, especially starting with the QB position, the most important for us.

Stanzi and Tanney aren't making this roster, shouldn't view them as a reason to skip a QB in any round this year.

Stanzi sucks, Tanney is PS. We have 1 proven. 1 QB who has played well in only preseason games.

Seems like a wonderful idea to get a gauge on a prospect and having him throw to proven NFL receivers (Bowe).

Additionally, if you're having all 3 Qbs work out as well, you could evaluate them at the same time, running the same plays, to the same WRs.

Stanzi is under contract still, and is a very cheap option at the #3 QB position, let alone the fact that he's been with this team for coming on 3 seasons now.

Not to mention in all honesty, I can't tell you today whether or not there is a QB better than Stanzi coming up in this draft. That's how bad the class is.

It gives you every reason to go with Stanzi or Tanney as your #3 guy and skip this years' draft and find out what Alex has in the tank, if he blows it, draft for the future next year.

If the chiefs draft Geno, They would in fact be putting a nuclear bomb on Alex Smith and just wasted 2 high picks on Alex. It wont happen people.

Geno would be the #2 qb on the depth chart. Stanzi would be gone while Tanney would be PS.

I'm curious, what metrics are you using to gauge Stanzi?

The fact that in his Rookie year, when he didn't even get a full camp and OTA's to work with due to the CBA, that he was our best Pre-season QB?

Or the fact that the very next year we didn't even attempt to give the kid a shot and he faced a jailbreak at every snap in pre-season?

Or were you judging his skill based on his collective number of snaps, zero.

Stanzi will be on the roster this year, bank on it.
