I know what you're saying and I love the mentality he has brought to the staff, and the team as a whole. But Santana has been our best pitcher and I want him taking the hill in a must win.

Shields effort was garbage last night. Throwing 3-0 fastballs at 90mph right down the plate. I know our offense (whole different issue) can't seem to hit those pitches, but about 25 other mlb offenses can. And the Twins did, with ease.

That's what I was seeing last nite. Got me to thinking: Why would we extend the guy? I mean, considering the 15M/per it would take....no thanks! TB used up his arm pushing him 220+ per year and he's got about 1 more excellent year IMO.

Look at Roy Halladay to see what happens after too much usage. Kaput!

I would not be against the idea of sitting Shields his next start to let his arm rest a bit.

:spock:

Halladay had six straight years of 220+ innings before his body broke down. That's a really bad example.

Shields has averaged 221.3 IP/yr the past 6 years. Therefore, I have no earthly idea what you're possibly disagreeing with here.

Joel, please get rid of dipshit in the booth. Hud is beyond horrible to listen to... even my 5, 8, and 10 yr old girls make fun of him....

DeepSouth 08-07-2013 01:45 PM

Has anyone heard who goes down to make room for Duffy?

I actually like Hud, but wouldn't have an issue with getting rid of Ryan.

Will Smith, but since he pitched last night, he wouldn't be available for a couple of days anyway.

I couldn't stand him either at first but he grows on you to the point to where you look forward to some of the crazy stuff that comes out of his mouth.
