Not my first choice, but I'd definitely go to the first Cards game at Wrigley with Sandberg as manager - no way could I pass up a chance to personally relish in that agony.

I will absolutely go.

I will absolutely wear my Sandberg Cardinals jersey.

And I will absolutely expect to get beer dumped on me and/or knifed by the end of the day.

I have 2 World Series championships in my sentient lifetime (another when I was a few months old). I have 3 more pennants. I have seen some of the greatest performances in baseball history as a Cardinals fan.

Ryno could be a shitty manager and I would still be okay with us hiring him just to get a rise out of Chicago fans. I've had my victories; they'll tide me over for a few years. Lets just kick some sand in the eyes of the shithead northsiders with this hire.

Off the current topic, I know, but...

Last Spring, the St Louis Cardinals were supposed to play an exhibition game here against the Springfield Cardinals (AA team). The games sold out in no time, but I managed to nab some GA tickets that I gave to my dad (huge Cardinals fan). Due to some bad weather, the game was canceled. They sent out vouchers for any regular season game, but he never got around to going. They were supposed to be playing here twice this Spring to make up for the missed game last year, but now the MLB is saying there's no time for that in the schedule, so it will only be one game. Luckily, those of us who never redeemed our vouchers during the regular season get first dibs on tickets to this exhibition game, even before season ticket holders! Yay!

Did anyone else notice that Albert Pujols "Tebowed" after the final out? Saw it on a replay this morning, made me think of Stephen Tulloch.

Twitter's going a little nuts with news that Bob Forsche died last night:

Threw out the first pitch for game 7.

Bummer. RIP Forschie.

Good pitcher for a long time, I remember listening to his no-hitter on the radio.

Bulldog mentality, very good hitter too, there were several years where he was probably a better ph choice than what we had on the bench, especially in that pitching era he played.

That sucks. Forchie was one of my favorites.

I think I told this story here once before, but I thought I almost killed him at The Country Club at The Legends on a hole with a blind tee shot. Airmailed him. Dude laughed about it.

RIP.

Did Francona skip his interview with the Cards? lol

whoman69 11-04-2011 07:39 PM

Bob Forsch, 3rd on Cardinals career wins list. Only Cardinal with multiple no-hitters despite the fact he was not a real hard thrower.

BigRedChief 11-05-2011 09:38 AM

Does it seem to anyone else that Matheny has the inside track to the job?

Pals with Pujols and Molina. The day after his interview he's in the Dominican with Pujols and Molina at a 3 day charity event. Like he does every year. Voched for by TLR and Duncan. Has done evaulations of minor league baseball players at the request of Mo.

If Mo says this is the guy and all these people vouch for him, he must be pretty impressive in person or understand the game at a high level. Why not? If he is the next great manager, we'd be set for another 15-20 years.
