Yes.

I really only care about the top end, lets say the best 10% of outcomes for any given QB. I want a stud QB. I'm willing to pay the development dues if that gets you a better chance at success.

Think about this: someone will likely give a #1 pick for Josh Freeman. They could have had Cassel for that. They obviously think Freeman has a higher top end that Cassel. I think that is wrong, but some here are playing the expert card, so if another NFL GM of a successful team rates it that way, you have to give it some weight. Teams will be giving top 10 picks for Stafford and Sanchez, so they must believe their chances of being great are much better than the chances of Cassel being great.

People just should not get too carried away. He has a long way to go.

How did peyton manning do the first time he faced a world champion defense and did he rebound to go 11-5 in that season

Look, I'm not saying he's Peyton Manning but good god give him a break, will you?

Outstanding Point.

That is what makes this trade look so amazing. Let's just hope Cassel pans out without amazing QB coaching.

In Peyton Manning's rookie season, he looked like he was on his way to becoming an NFL star, at least from my perspective. He looked like money every step of the way.

That's the kind of guy I want.

So do 31 other teams.

Any word on if he signed a contract extension? I have hard time believing we'd trade for him without one.

I don't understand this point, that cassel doesn't have as high of a ceiling as stafford or sanchez (because he was a 7th round pick?) and what do we know that makes stafford or sanchez "stud QB"?

I'm liking this trade for a couple reasons; we gave a #2 for a starting QB that has shown success in the NFL (and a pretty darn good LB) has already "rode the pine" to learn about the pro game, and been on a winning organization that we want to emulate.

Oh-and I was more on the stafford bandwagon than the trade for cassel wagon, but I think it was a good trade. I think cassel has just as much a chance to be a stud QB for many years as stafford or sanchez does....

Well I logged on from work this afternoon, and saw the news ......

First thing I thought was "I wonder if the Planet has imploded yet?"

Second thought, sure beats Thighpen :)

So sorry if I truly offended. :toast:

WATCH THE FILM OPEN MINDED you might be somewhat surprised, i was after listening to how the guy had an arm that looked like cooked spaghetti

I might warm to this guy with some wins and signs that he's the real deal, but until then; he's on the bubble.

Let me get this straight - you want someone's career to be ruined - a player on OUR team at that - and we're supposed to think that's OK?

I ALWAYS do. People can be biased and full of shit, but the tape doesn't lie.

I believe we're still gonna' pull the trigger. We needed a starter, and we got one. You still have to look to the future though, and in that scenario nothing has changed; Matt and Mark are still the elite prospects, and are better than anything you'll get next year. So you draft one of them and groom them.
Thigpen will be lucky to have a roster spot. If Pioli and Haley are willing to send a Pro-Bowler packing, what would make ANYONE think that Thigpen is "above the axe"?

The Pats valued the position, so why wouldn't Pioli's Chiefs?

Yep, I overreacted; the deal ain't done YET.
