Just got out of the shower to see Kuntz' cake. I've never seen a man get so pissed off to see a baked good.

bsroyals54 08-19-2014 10:15 PM

I remember when the a Royals won the western division with 84 wins one year. 1984 I Think?

Weird year......

89 team won 92 games and finished in 2nd - 7 games behind the A's. So glad MLB has the new playoff setup.

The worst ERA in the Royals bullpen is Bruce Chen - by far - at 6.56. Everyone else is under 4. Worst amongst that is Crow at 3.65.

The Royals' top 5 bullpen guys all have ERAs under 2.50.

By comparison, the Tigers only have one reliever (LOOGY Blaine Hardy) under 2.50.

I think the greatness of Holland/Davis/Herrera gives us a false impression of everyone else.

Kinda the way I see it. As much as everybody Crows on Aaron Crow, many teams would take his 3.65 ERA. ( I'm not a Crow lover either ) .

Perhaps, but since the All-Star Break, KC Bullpen - The Big 3 ->3 ER's 0 HR in 44.1 innings pitched, the other 5 guys -> 21 ER's 9HR's in 39.2 innings pitched.

It is a little concern.

22-5 in our last 27.

We're only a 13 game winning streak away from the Tigers start in '84.

Chens FiP: 4.59
Aaron Crap: 5.48

For the top spot in the AL, the Angels & Orioles both are only going to lose just 14 games a piece, we are not catching them with 12 games vs Tigers & Indians.

We have to go 27 - 10 to be close to catch them.

CaliforniaChief 08-19-2014 11:24 PM

Another W. Bummed that the Rays couldn't hold off the Tigers, but we'll take the win.

Encouraging to see the offense finally wake up and score 7...nervous about the rest of the bullpen. Hopefully we can hold on until guys like Finnegan/Zimmer can come up and take their shots.

On July 21, the Royals were 48-50 and eight games back of first. Today, they are 70-55 and 4 1/2 games back of the best record in baseball.

That's simply amazing, and should be a lesson to the "season's over" crowd. It's a LONG season, and the Royals have proven to be a streaky team. We've gotten hot, and as a result, we're in first place, and on track to make the playoffs for the first time since 85.

That being said, I'd also caution those who think a playoff spot is all but locked up as well. A lot can change over the next month. Whatever happens we should all be sure to enjoy the ride and enjoy watching our team playing meaningful baseball at this point in the season
