Are we supposed to be happy about paying to pick up a .546 ops 2b? Overpaying for a below replacement level player. Fantastic.

You have to look at his career OBP. Is he coming off of injury this year? What are the mitigating factors for why this year is the outlier for a player who has consistently been on base at a strong clip in his previous 12 seasons?

If you can answer that question to your satisfaction and believe he's going to return to his norm, this is a no-brainer acquisition.

If they're sending cash over for Carroll, I really don't have any issue with that. He's not going to be a difference maker but probably doesn't hurt them for the 15 days.

I wouldn't have minded seeing them bring up Colon or Gio, but I won't quibble about this.

Guess it's worth the shot considering Johnson can't hit anything that crosses the plate.

Its pretty obvious Dayton does not trust Gio for whatever reason.
