They should totally redo Salvy's contract. It irritates me his agent was dumb enough to have him sign that joke

At the time he signed it, Salvador Perez was 22, had played a half season in the major leagues, and while he hit at a great level, hit much better at MLB than he ever had anywhere else.

He signed it for the security of having guaranteed MLB type money through the length of the deal. Considering he had signed for $50k or less and had just earned his first MLB paychecks, it was a good deal for him from a security standing.

Not his agent's fault. Not his fault. It made sense for both sides.

Just like he now deserves a raise.

Why does Perez deserve a raise? Doesn't that imply Guthrie (11m), Rios (12m) and Infante (8m) should take a pay cut?

At least he doesn't watch the games so we don't have to deal with him in the GDTs

Yep. Royals were taking a risk at the time too. But I'm all for giving Salvy a raise.

Give Salvy 95% of Rios's paycheck, since Rios has performed at 5% of his capability and is a ****

They weren't taking a risk at all. It was pure rape.

This is the system the players union agreed to. Sal and Escobar have every right to grumble but they need to point their complaints to the union and not Dayton.

Paulo Orlando Bat Flip though. That was hawt.

They signed him after 39 games.

gblowfish 07-12-2015 04:47 PM

Wow, what a game, huh? And when we come back, it's right into a double header in Chicago. Yikes.

Yeah, I get why Salvy fired his agent.

But if you think there's no risk to a team signing a player to a long term contract after just 39 games, well ...

Anyway, I'm buzzed on vesper martinis and have to finish dinner for the fam, so I'm in no condition to argue. I'm right and you're wrong. :p

Agree or disagree?

Disagree, I think need to play at .550 or .575 to hold Twins. With Gordon's injury IMO the Royals will be in a MAJOR dogfight during the 2nd half of the season to hold off the Twins for the division. I am not at all comfortable with the 4.5 game lead.
