No they don't. Their stomach fills up, but they do not poop.

LMAO They talked on Talking Dead with the creator, that they do not poop. We know their stomach fills, b/c of the Woodchuck they found in one, and of course, where else would it go?

Something has to happen with it though, or they'd explode. Maybe their meals are broken down in the stomach and everything is absorbed to the body.

Ok, after considerable research there is no absolute consensus on whether or not Zombies have a working digestive system.
Most seem to think that your traditional zombies, (like the ones on this show) do not have a working digestive tract. However, their stomach produces enough acid to still break down their food and convert it to energy. Zombies can starve but their bodies will shut down and "hibernate" until a food source is located nearby. Otherwise it feeds upon itself adding to the decomposition process. If there is an abundance of food, a zombie will eat until it's stomach ruptures. They will then continue to eat and eat until they literally explode or until their jaw falls off from decomposition.

Another theory was that their digestive tract works through sheer force. They pack it down and it just forces itself through. Kind of like forcing sausage into casings.

A third, (preposterous) theory was that zombies are magical satanic beings that convert food into "Mana" which I find totally absurd.

I was just watching George A. Romero's Day of the Dead yesterday (which is underrated, IMO), the one where the crazy scientist is training the zombies to become docile and domesticated through a reward system (and is somewhat successful with one of them). Much in the same way that you teach and condition dogs, I guess I could see that being a possibility.

Agreed very underated film.

In one of the episodes someone said they had working digestive systems i think. I may have to go back n watch the first season and find out.

Uhh...who cares if they poop?

Does nobody want to talk about the best episode since the pilot?

God damn that was good.

blaise 11-21-2011 05:28 AM

That was a good episode. The preview for next week looks good, too.
I don't know why they don't just stake out some land of their own? Can't they just mimic what Herschel is doing?

Buck 11-21-2011 05:36 AM

I think Shane is my favorite character.

Glenn might be #2 and Dale #3.

KC_Connection 11-21-2011 05:42 AM

I loved that final Shane scene...that intensity and his crazy eyes. He's starting to look like a full-on sociopath. Dale better watch himself and mind his own business.

I don't know why they're wasting perfectly good chickens on zombies, though. It's not like they need nourishment to exist, right?

The characters are pretty much stereotypes, but that (and the conflict between them) is kind of what makes it so entertaining.

I think Herschel is making all the people at the barn play by his rules for letting them stay there.

Herschel is a reerun and thinks they're still alive.

Maybe he saw Shaun of the Dead, and has an XBox in the basement.

blaise 11-21-2011 06:02 AM

They may want to just think about grabbing everything there is from that drug store instead of going back again and again.

Chiefnj2 11-21-2011 08:36 AM

1. I hope the show doesn't turn into a bunch of love triangles.
2. Other than Shane and the old guy, the character development sucks.
