here is one thing no one seems to care about
what if Reid plans on taking Geno at #1 and gives him the Palmer treatment of putting him at #3 and not letting him sniff a game say Smith plays another Alex Smith year of 2011 and 2012 and we get a few bounces, win 10 games, and get a wild card... who's to say in 2014 we can't trade Alex Smith for what we gave up for him a year later? Maybe he plays out of his mind, looks like a franchise QB, wins the heart of KC so we trade Geno for a few high picks instead? Either way, just because we "wasted" two high picks on Smith doesn't mean we can't flip him next year and recover a lot of that "waste" |
"Stanzi". Lol

**** making anyone feel safe. We just went through four years of building a worthless ****s ego. The QB we want doesn't give a shit who else is on the roster because they are better. If Alex is the man he should have no problem proving it.

Let me add more to the fire.
Why would they -specifically- want Alex Smith to be the short term fix if they draft Geno Smith? Alex is brilliant at understanding the mental part of the game and has been starting for a long time...he is used to rattling off wordy play calls and fully understands the exact things Geno will need to learn. Remember, nobody was willing to offer Alex a big time contract last year and this might have been the only place he could have started, or was assured he would start 2013. 1) his contract hasn't been extended and no conversations have taken place to do so. 2) Chase Daniels has a specific clause in his contract that opens the possibility he takes over for Alex Smith as the starter by game 7 or 8 in 2014. 2000 yards and 12 touchdowns is half a season. The clause voids the remaining years of the contract, meaning that it's a worthless clause if it happens in the third year because there is no fourth...it shows that even Daniels was told there is a chance he takes over as the starter in year two. That right there shows you that they IN NO WAY see Alex Smith as the long term answer at this point. |
