Another year of playoff letdowns as a Dodgers fan. Oh ****ing joy. Can't wait for the "Houston needed this!" headlines.

Coming back to Los Angeles after three games in a row in Houston will give them a boost. Verlander has been lights out but if theres anyway we can get to the bullpen around mid innings then we got a good shot. I had a feeling we would only win one in Houston, 2 would've been fantastic and probably unrealistic the way the Astros played at home this year. They have an excellent team. This series has seven games written all over it.

As far as game 7...thats really a crap shoot. Kinda like making it to the final table at the WSOP and going head to head with the next chip leader. I would warm up Darvish and Wood and start Darvish. If he looks wild or like hes throwing BP early then yank him quick and put in Wood. Pull out all the tricks that game, go for broke obviously

I like the Astros and their fans. I remember after the White Sox beat them in the World Series. A couple of Astro fans saw the WGN crew there and came over to congratulate Chicago and their champions. Very classy. Astros have had lots of great players over the years and some tough losses. I am glad to see this incredible group of current Astro players and their smart and classy manager doing well.

They have had some really tough luck through the years. Losing JR Richard to a stroke that eventually cost him his life.

The 1980 NLCS game 5 loss at home to the Phillies. That year the Astros beat the Dodgers in LA in a one game playoff for the division. Art Howe hit a huge HR to lead them that game.

The 1986 NLCS was one of the greatest series I've ever seen. Game 1 was one of the best games I've ever watched. Mike Scott VS Dwight Gooden. 1-0 game won by the Astros on a Glenn Davis HR.

Game 6 was an incredible 16 inning game. The Billy Hatcher HR in the 14th to tie it for Houston. probably the best game NLCS clinching game I've ever seen.

LMAO You're raging because we don't give a shit about the Astros beating the Dodgers and you call me angry!

That's funny...

Great post. I remember that tough 1980 loss in the NLCS, after earlier in the season losing J.R. Richard to the major stroke. As you may recall, J.R. Richard was having medical issues before the stroke, but some sportswriters and fans did not believe him when he complained of these issues. I don't think I'll ever forget that. I was one to always believe a player when they said they were having medical problems, but even more so after what happened to Richard.

Also, it shows how great that 1980 Astros team was, that they could lose a starting pitcher of the caliber of J.R. Richard and still push the Phillies to 5 games in a best-of-5 NLCS. By the way, that year the Astros tied with the Dodgers atop the NL West and had a 1-game playoff to determine which team would play in the NLCS.

Yes, I remember a very disturbing story in SI about the behavior of the team during his health issue. JR Richard claimed a "dead arm" and many anonymous people (players and front office) thought he was upset about Nolan Ryan getting more money.

And yes, I remember the playoff game as I referenced it in my post. :)

Good to see you around DanT.

For 3 days i walked around in contemplation that i may have been to the most amazing game in World Series history (game 2). Now i walk around contemplating that i went to the second most amazing game in World Series history. This series is unbelievable.

So far it's looking like game 6 will be much lower scoring than game 5. Still 7 innings to go though.

There's one.

I saw a tweet that confirmed a bettor has bet the winner each game of this series, 5-0, letting it ride each time and is now up to $8 million. It said he bet the Dodgers today.

I'm glad Hootie is doing well for himself.

I don't know if it brings bragging rights, but I think your viewpoint is a bit skewed here. The Royals, despite a terrible 30 year stretch, are still one of the best expansion teams in the history of baseball. 9 playoff appearances, 4 World Series appearances, 2 World Series wins. There aren't many teams that have done better, certainly not among the other "expansion" teams that came in once baseball started expanding in the 60s.

If you take a look at the last 40 years of baseball, which is most of our lifetimes... the only American League teams that have done absolutely better than that are the Yankees and Red Sox. I don't believe anyone else in the AL even has more than 4 appearances and 2 titles in that stretch. There are teams like the White Sox, that have been around since 1901, that have the same number of playoff appearances as the Royals. The Phillies have been around since 1883 and they have 2 titles.

And that doesn't even go into the fact that Kansas City is one of the smallest markets in the sport that usually punishes small markets the most.

Well done! Thank you for taking the time to make this post.

I like to remind the Cub fans I know that since 1945, they've won two pennants and one world series. The Royals accomplished that in two seasons two years ago.
