I am liking what Robinson is doing so far. Would like to see him keep it up and finish the year strong in Omaha.

Definitely would buy giving him 150 games at the bi league level, if he is ready, next year.

I just don't have much desire - even with his improvements - to see what Maier is. No power, mediocre average, mediocre defense ... Seems like "what he is" is known.

Still, it's a better option than a .230 hitting ankiel.

I agree Maier probably wont get much better. His career minor league power #'s say so. that said he can be a solid backup and id rather have him than millions tied to ankiel. I like Robinson, and hope he can keep it up. He can run like the wind but he needs a bat to go with it, or he'll be the next gathright.

"U.S. Olympic Committee excited about adding Spork and Detached Ankle to the 2018 Winter Games."

The investment in Ankiel is at least small ($2.75 million).

I think Robinson has a ton of potential... I just hope the adjustments to his stance/batting approach enacted this year hold up.

Gathright is kind of a scary comparison... he was an extremely high-average hitter in the minors who never could make it click in the bigs.

gathright is hit .182 in AAA now lol...but he did hit over .300 for awhile in AA and starting AAA before trying to make it with the Rays.

I hope robinson can figure it out, we desperatly need a table setter

Why are we worried about Ankiel? One year deal, at the end of free agency (so the money wasn't going to be spent elsewhere), and he's not blocking anyone right now. If he comes back healthy and gets hot, maybe you flip him at the deadline. If not, Maier is a 4th OF, and a pretty good one.

Agreed. We have major problems in other areas that bother me much more than this. Ankiel is a guy the Royals tend to sign EVERY year - taking a chance on a has been/never was hoping like hell to hit the winning lottery ticket.

And why not take a shot. Maybe you find your own Carlos Pena.

Crow got bombed today, giving up 7 runs in 4 ip. His ERA is now over 5.

Sure-Oz 05-31-2010 08:07 PM

Too bad Mike Leake didn't fall to us...

Hope Crow gets better soon...and works out the kinks.

Also, anyone heard anything about Noelle Arguelles, isn't he supposed to be in AA soon?

I keep hearing on 810 that Billaaay is whining that he isn't up there in the AS voting. Apparnetly he blames where he plays because of that, not because he is putting up avg numbers at best in a position full of production. Just shutup and hit for more power #'s and you may be considered in the future. Heck he may make it anyway cause there is no real AS this year except maybe soria and zack (doubtful with his w.l record) Butler seems to get on these whiney streaks sometimes, he is not an All Star yet, he is a pretty good player, thats all so far. He apparently thinks he is an All Star player.

Dude, this kid has a severe ego problem. I was chatting with some people at the airport who went to Royals Sprint Training. He said when the guys came out to give autographs, Billay refused as was acting like a real pompus ass. And go back to Guillen's comment about "too many babies in the clubhouse" in which he was referring to Billay, who was whining at the time that he wasn't starting everyday at 1st base.

Also, the kid needs to shutup, accept the DH role and make room for Kila to play 1st base.

I thought he would've grown up by now and just work hard. If there was an all star representative for DP's he'd be #1...and he lacks in runs scored, rbis, HR's, you know all the important stuff? He is like Hal Morris with the AVG and a little more power. it's not like he is playing 2b, he'd def. have a case then. I like billy but he needs to stfu!
