Would be extremely annoying if he managed to figure his bat out with that team. Though my reaction to the signing was basically a shrug.

I honestly think they should put their effort into an impact 1st baseman. Even if that means not doing anything this offseason and waiting until the trade deadline next year. I don't think I can handle many more years of a Moss/Adams combo.

all of this is just more fallout for the Cardinals from Taveras driving drunk.

We lost a #3 starter with 4 years of control.

We lost a potential All-Star with home run pop with 6 years of control.

That talent and years of control is just gone. Such a sad thing for everyone.

Im calling bullshit on this. My brother moved to IL last year and everything from taxes to insurance more than doubled.

If he plans to live there, he is spending way more money on cost of living, not that it matters when you make $23MM a year.

I agree. The tax thing seems to be something his agent put out there.

He left because he wanted to go to the Cubs, not money. He played with us for a year. He rejected us for out rival. For too long we have owned the Cubs. Now is the time for the front office to step up like the Cubs had or just pack it in and rebuild. No more just get a better bench and a #4 starter for 2 years patchwork crap.

Illinois has a 5 percent income tax and I doubt Missouri is even close to that. The overall cost of living in St Louis is like 40 to 50 percent less than chicago.

Ya I'd have no problem with Cueto. Players nowadays are basically mercenaries anyways.

On Wednesday, MLBTR sat down with Johnny Cueto‘s agent for an exclusive interview at the Winter Meetings in Nashville, Tennessee. In the chat, Bryce Dixon made the case for Cueto as a strong fit for the Cardinals and also touched on his client’s involvement in a 2010 brawl against St. Louis. “I can’t speak to how the Cardinals feel. ..Obviously [Johnny] regrets how the fight went down,” Dixon said. “He’s expressed regret over it in the past. He loves pitching in the NL Central. He’s the best pitcher of our era in the NL Central. It would be a good marriage [between] Johnny and the Cardinals. I think once the fans got past the fight and they saw what a gamer Johnny is and what he could bring to the team, I think they would be able to embrace him now, though I don’t think that they’ll do that overnight.”

If Cueto signs with st Louis, you just have him buy LaRue a sweet car or a house and do a presentation at Busch and all is forgiven. Simple. I hated the guy at the time but it was a while ago and he was pinned against the screen. The real causes were Phillips being a smartass and Yadi reacting like a juiced up bro man.

Yeah that can be forgiven because it was so long ago and he was still pretty young. Well with some statement said earnestly that he is sorry.

The dude takes innings and games off. How will that go over in the STL cards locker room? Sounds like the Cardinals locker room is pretty old school. I doubt they would tolerate a slacker regardless of how they perform when they are not slacking off. But, we get a guy like that for the playoffs not for the regular season.
