Great moment for Cardinals fans. My roommate still has that .jpg as his Facebook picture.

But Lidge had his redemption so 'meh'...would've been cooler if it ruined the "best closer in the game" at that time...

like some Mitch Williams shit or something

The Rick 10-15-2011 07:28 AM

Ugh. :(

That game sucked last night. With all of those errors, we didn't deserve to win. Pathetic. :shake:

Hoping we can pull off a miracle tomorrow with Marcum to at least force another Gallardo-Carpenter showdown. If that happens, then at least I'll feel good that whichever team comes out on top in that pitching dual will deserve to move on.

I wasn't on the sky is falling bandwagon. We have already exceeded my wildest expectations.

We haven't had a pitcher go beyond 5 innings in this series. Our bullpen sucked for most of the year. There is something "magical" going on with this team.

We are playimg with way beyond house money. It took the 5th biggest comeback to even make it into the playoffs. Every year some team gets hot in the playoffs and wins games that they shouldn't, at least on paper.

We just need to enjoy the ride.

Not that I have that AB on DVD or anything :)

One of my favorite parts of that clip is when they pan to the Aastros dugout and you see Petitte saying, "Oh my God."

Wish I could find that.

A lot of this is semantics. Technically, nothing is a must win but an elimination game, but eliminating the chance of going back to the new homer dome is damned important.

I said after losing game 4 our odds of winning the series went from 95 with a win to 30 after that loss. Last night's win knocked it up to about 60:40 for us.

Frazod 10-15-2011 11:46 AM

I just hope they take care of business tomorrow. IF we advance, I'd much rather have Carpenter starting game 1.

Certainly wasn't a sky is falling moment, but it kept Milwaukee alive.

I think Tony is looking upon the schedule and being careful with keeping starters in, especially now with Garcia since he folded in game 1. He's found the bullpen rotation that has worked, now if they can only hold up.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-15-2011 11:58 AM

It would be nice like the old days to have him in 1, 4, and 7, but alas these bunch of overpaid nancies can't handle it. Not a knock on Carp as pitchers have an ERA over 6 with only 3 days rest in the last couple of years.

It's private because MLB takes down all content on YouTube. It's literally impossible to find anything.

I said it before, but I hope to Christ we take care of business tomorrow night. I don't think the Cardinals would have much of a chance against Texas, but I don't think they'd have any chance at all unless Carp starts the first game.

Most people said the Cards didn't have a chance against the Phillies, though. It's baseball playoffs, either team can easily win.

Cart before the horse talk but yeah, Texas is defintely the team to beat on paper and on the field. It looks like its their year. But then again, last year appeared to be Philly's year.;)

Not really. I used words like "hope" and "would." I'm well aware that this could all grind to a halt with a game 7 loss.

I disagree. The Tigers played pretty poorly in that series and still played them tough. They brought it to six no playing well with two extra-inning games. The Rangers rotation has been iffy at best. Their bullpen has been awesome, but so has STL.

I think home field being NL is going to maybe even things out some.

Rangers lose a bat out the gate playing in the NL park and IF the Cards can get to the WS, it gets Craig, Freese, Berkman, Pujols and Holliday all in the line up in their ballpark.

That may help equalize the offense some.

Torty has my vote. For the most obvious reason.

Marcellus 10-16-2011 05:36 PM

Cardinals:
Furcal, SS
Jay, CF
Pujols, 1B
Berkman, RF
Holliday, LF
Freese, 3B
Molina, C
Punto, 2B
Jackson, P

Brewers:
Hart, RF
Morgan, CF
Braun, LF
Fielder, 1B
Weeks, 2B
Hairston, 3B
Betancourt, SS
Lucroy, C
Marcum, P

Freese ahead of Yadi again, good deal, and I like Morgan playing center tonight for Brewers.
