Sweden takes down Finland. Hooray I guess? Didn't care a ton about that one, but glad Landeskog will get a medal.

I think it's the same length, but there's an extra foot or two behind the net on international rinks and the blue lines are closer to the nets, so there's more neutral zone... which also leads to longer passes and a more open style of play. But, teams are sitting back a bit more these days to prevent anyone from sneaking behind them, so it's more of a chess match on when to take your chances.

Damn you, DaFace. :cuss: ....figured I'd click on this thread one too many times.... definitely not after 11 though.

Yeah, I think I'm doing about 10 hrs of recording per day. But we have a 24hr rule in place. Both of us need to watch whatever events by 24hr after they were recorded

Dayze 02-21-2014 09:46 AM

we're at like 27% availability on our DVR.

I need room for Workaholics and Broad City.

damnit.

Sounds like someone's still upset about Ben Johnson

I was an accident waiting to happen when Ben Johnson occurred.

I'm still all about Donavan Bailey setting a World Record in Atlanta though. Nobody ever talks about that... And our 4x100M relay win. And a few years later when Michael Johnson pussied out in their head to head race because Bailey was curbstomping him.

People IMO connect with them more because they are more likely to have done something a lot that is happening in the game.

For example...being best in the world at that ski jump is incredible. But how big is the pool of people that have made a huge jump like that...or are active doing that. Pretty damn small. Same goes for bobsled and all kinds of stuff.

In contrast things like running and swimming? Everyone has experienced them and the people who are best at it rise above of field of basically the world instead of some niche community with access to a bobsled ice course. Also because everyone has experience it's the feats are that much more amazing because you have a reference for how amazing what they are doing is compared to your own abilities.

I'm just saying that the Winter Games are a bigger deal in Canada, and that if I'm going to watch sports that aren't hockey baseball or football, the stuff at the winter games like ski/snowboard cross, speedskating, bobsled, alpine events, curling etc all are more culturally relevant to me and thus more appealing.

Wait until you are at hour 12 of figure skating. A "system error" may be in order.
