I agree with this sentence. build a lead, shut it down and give the game to your defense. This has been the formula for success for smith/reid and the Chiefs since they been here. Won a ton of games this way.

Some teams are not going to let you do that. To win in the playoffs we will need to win games when other teams are dictating terms.

You've been around this block a few times, so I'll ask:

When you hear phrases like "winning coach" and "winning QB" and "winning-winning-winning"(!), what other ultimately pointless KC entity from years gone by IMMEDIATELY pops in to your head by virtue of logical equation?

Hint: both personages are currently tied in the play off department as KC head coaches with "winning" QB's(!)

Double Hint: one personage actually HAD a winning QB. Briefly.

Sandy has already said he's sticking around regardless. He's a Chiefs fan now and for the foreseeable future. With or without Alex.

And Smith has played really well in 3 out of 5 playoff games. I'll give people the Giants game, even though Smith did enough to win that game in my opinion, but wasn't a great game for him... and I thought he played a decent game against the Pats... not good enough, but that loss wasn't all on him.

I wouldn't and didn't put the whole loss on him. Coaches, strategy, players ect. It needs to improve though. Long way to go and growth to be had before that is on the horizon, but the point remains.

Marty Montana

But whats the point of comparing two very different eras?

My point is; you are a stuck in a perpetual time-warp, and Tim Curry is not showing up to massage your balls anytime soon.

Sure... that's fine. I just disagree with the narrative that you can't go far in the playoffs with Smith. I think he's shown that he is certainly capable of elevating his play in big games.

But no need to open this can again. I've heard others view point, they heard mine. Chiefs need to roll the next 5 and put them in a good position to line up another playoff run so we have fresh playoff stuff to argue about!
