Nice play by burnt toast.

Buck 10-16-2011 06:19 PM

Pujols was safe.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-16-2011 06:19 PM

HE WAS SAFE, YOU MOTHER****ER!!

Frazod 10-16-2011 06:19 PM

That was a great play by Marcum. Dammit :grr:

Marcellus 10-16-2011 06:19 PM

Terrible call.

O.city 10-16-2011 06:19 PM

FFs Holliday.

He was safe.

NJChiefsFan 10-16-2011 06:19 PM

Ugh, the old ball beat him call.

Frazod 10-16-2011 06:19 PM

**** YEAH FREESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pasta Little Brioni 10-16-2011 06:19 PM

GONE!!! Marcum has nothing left.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-16-2011 06:19 PM

BATMANG!!!!

KC_Connection 10-16-2011 06:20 PM

Is this going to be another blowout like yesterday? Brewers better pull Marcum before it becomes one.

Buck 10-16-2011 06:20 PM

Should be 5-0.

OnTheWarpath15 10-16-2011 06:20 PM

WHOOOOOOO!

NJChiefsFan 10-16-2011 06:20 PM

Ball beat him call, followed by a killer HR.

Anybody hear the announcers moan in the backround? Guess TBS wants a GM 7.

Marcellus 10-16-2011 06:20 PM

Why Molina ever hit in front of Freese is beyond me.

DeezNutz 10-16-2011 06:21 PM

Cards are going to parlay an average/mediocre season into a WS appearance. The next time any of you ****ers bemoan your fate as baseball fans, I'd strongly encourage you to find something sharp.

Shawn Marcum has been horrible for a month. I'm surprised they chose to start him in an elimination game.

NJChiefsFan 10-16-2011 06:23 PM

Big bottom of the 1st. Putting up a 0 after scoring is almost as big a momentum push as scoring is in baseball.

Good start even with the call going against Pujols, hopefully Jackson can take of business.

And I hope they stay zoomed in on Zach.. It's about that time for him to go all clammy, start convulsing, and need more mommy therapy......again...

Marcum was great for them early in the season (and great for the Jays in his short career there). But I think the Jays had a feeling that he would wear down easily and dealt him at peak value while they could.

Lawrie, on the other hand, looks like a future star.

Ruh-roh

think it was you who said it, but gotta love power arms in October. I like Jackson more than I would like Lohse Jaime in this spot. Just go after guys cause we are puting up a ton of runs tonight hopefully.

Jeff Weaver, Jeff Suppan, Anthony Reyes give you a boner?

We definitely had better pitching performances, but the pitchers themselves were not better.

The bullpen, in both cases, was largely a pile of shit that turned in to all of King Midas' silver.

It's why Smoltz was the best of the Braves' three pitchers in the post-season.

Oh no, a soft-tossing lefty

OnTheWarpath15 10-16-2011 06:36 PM

Marcum out of the game.

Suppan was outstanding that entire postseason--and he's an example of an extremely underrated player throughout the majority of his career--, and Weaver actually performed to his talent level.

And Wainwright made that '06 pen look pretty ****ing decent.

tk13 10-16-2011 06:37 PM

Dave Duncan should have a gold statue erected outside that stadium for winning a championship with Jeff Weaver.

Dude. Tyler Johnson, Randy Flores, Josh Kinney (who was signed from St. Louis area independent baseball), Brad "Puppy Kicker" Thompson.

2006 Waino was great for the fact that he wasn't Izzy, but he was nowhere near the machine that Motte has been the last two weeks.

That trade for Rafael Furcal has been understated. He's been great for the Cardinals. Shows what the guy can still do when he's healthy (which isn't very often).

He's the team MVP as far as I'm concerned. There is no way we make the playoffs without him.

Eh, the Cardinals bullpen to begin the season wasn't that bad.

Basically having Franklin and no l00gy that could get lefties out were the things that really stood in the beginning of the season.

Not to be a dick, but I really am not a fan of saying "what if". If the Cards get that home plate call you never know what happens. The following batters and the pitchers, not to mention coaches, mindsets change. Different pitch sequences with different scenarios.

If there was a way to go back and run that inning at 2-0 Cards, Freese doesn't hit that HR. Maybe he hits it somewhere else on a different pitch or count ect. but thoughts change and that affects everything.

Rams Fan 10-16-2011 06:44 PM

Furcal shouldn't be back if he's asking for anything over 6 mil.

I'm certainly not going to argue too passionately about something as tepid as Cardinal baseball, but many of my immediate memories of '06 revolve around Wainwright being ****ing money is high-pressure situations.

Perhaps time has exaggerated some of these memories, but at this point in the postseason, Motte cannot touch '06 Wainwright's level.

Give it another week or so, and this might not be the case.
