I do agree that's maybe the worst rumor of the entire offseason. I think every GM uses up most of their time in case somebody blows them away with an offer. It doesn't mean Carl didn't want DJ necessarily, maybe he wanted to see if anybody knocked his socks off, if not, no biggie, he has nothing to lose by letting the clock run out. Of course I don't know if that's what happened, but it's what Carl should've done if he was smart, even though he'd apparently get criticized for it....

This reminds me of all those Marty and Hill rumors in the mid 90's. |

It is a leap of logic to jump to the conclusion that taking the full 15 means the latter rather than the former. And regardless of which direction the offers were flowing, it is not reasonable to assume that Carl was undervaluing DJ at all since no one has stepped up to the plate with the offer they think Carl was making for us to make a comparision. OTOH, I've offered an example of a trade that would have made sense for the Chiefs which justifies Carl's decision to entertain offers before pulling the trigger. He lost nothing by waiting, but the upside for waiting was unlimited even if it was unlikely. |

Classic...Im reminded of another thread where speculation was poo-poo'ed:
Quote:
Valid Rumor - Any speculation about how Carl almost screwed up a draft pick/trade/FA acquisition. |

i never said the chiefs didn't want DJ |

i repeat ... i only verified that the chiefs DID use the entire clock which COMMON SENSE indicates means they chiefs were exploring their options. i made no judgement of those options ... i made no judgement about whether that was even a bad thing. you just had to grab your "captain logic" cape and attack EVEN when there was nothing to defend. |
