But with Thigpen at QB, and our coaching staff, would we be able to gameplan to beat Texas?

If so, how much do we win by?

This would be much more interesting than what we usually get on Sundays...

**** NO!

You cannot be this naive to think there are 15 starting NFL players on one college roster. You know how difficult it is to make it in the NFL. I'm going to assume you are joking...ROFL

Ok I'm going to run through this..I won't count any true freshman because they haven't really played yet.

Mark Sanchez
Stanley Havili
Stafon Johnson
Damian Williams
Ronald Johnson
Kris O'Dowd
Everson Griffen
Fili Moala
Rey Maualuga
Brian Cushing
Taylor Mays

Now that's 11 guys who are pretty much all locks to be NFL starters. That doesn't include any of these guys who will make rosters and some will start and some won't..

Charles Brown
Butch Lewis
Jeff Byers
Kaluka Maivaia
Kevin Ellison
Cary Harris
Shareece Wright
CJ Gable
Vidal Hazelton
Patrick Turner

And this doesn't include McKnight who I'm pretty sure will play in the NFL as something.

So yea I'll stand by 15.

I don't think we'd win 100-0 necessarily, but it'd be a total blowout. The talent and coaching level is nothing in college compared to the NFL. Even for the national champs, like Texas. Greg Robinson succeeded with his 10 yards off the ball defense there. QB's don't have to make as many reads, WR's are much more open. Look at how many people bash Sam Bradford for that... and I'm not saying you're wrong, you could very well be right. But that's the college game, half the games OU plays their WR's are so good Bradford doesn't have to do much work. D-linemen like Dorsey can dominate just with their physical ability, Larry Johnson would still rush for 2000 yards and be unstoppable.

I know, I made this thread as kind of a 'hungover I hate Herm' thread...

I realize, like Hamas said, 53/53 beats 15/90 and Waters would cave in an entire defensive line by itself...

I'm just embarrassed by our current roster...I was so disheartened after last game I was about ready to hit something when I was talking in the game thread and I'm never like that...I couldn't believe how friggin' ridiculous our gameplan was...how bad our players are...how bad our pass rush is...how bad our tackling is...how bad our line is...how bad our QB's are...

I've never felt like this before...I was ok with the direction we were headed but when my favorite team shows absolutely nothing week in and week out during my favorite time of the year, it's gut wrenching.

I can think of absolutely NO positives so far this year...

Our 'franchise' QB played a total of 3 quarters this season.
Our best player isn't allowed at Arrowhead for the time being.
Tony Gonzalez was almost traded.
Glenn Dorsey isn't being coached very well.
Tamba Hali is still playing RE for some reason.
The Chiefs have 3 sacks as a team.
We still run, run, pass, punt...(I count a 2 yard quick pass as a run)
Chan Gailey < Mike Solari

They have to can Herm, his staff, and Peterson, and the front office...

It HAS to be done. For the fans. We deserve it.

Every year it seems that this question gets asked. And every year, the answer is the same in that the worst NFL team (Chiefs) would in fact beat the best college team (Texas). However, ther is no doubt in my mind that Mac Brown would easily out coach Herm Edwards during the game.

jidar 10-21-2008 08:32 AM

There has never been, and never will be, a college team that could beat a modern NFL team. Any modern NFL team.

Uh.. no.. just no.

Has there been a college team with even 10 players who eventually all started in the NFL? I mean legit starters, not backups who got a few games.

It's the only kind of threads I seem to support lately.

It should NEVER be OK for this type of football to be played in Arrowhead.

NEVER.

Agreed no way 11 players are locks, thats proposturous.

With that said the 2001 Hurricanes had:

Najeh Davenport, PIT
Clinton Portis, WAS (1 probowl)
Jeremy Shockey, NO (4 probowls)
Andre Johnson, HOU (2 probowls)
Bryant McKinnie, MIN
D.J. Williams, DEN
Ed Reed, BAL (4 probowls)
Jonathan Vilma, NO
Frank Gore, SF (1 probowl)
Willis McGahee, BAL (1 probowl)

And probably some guys who got good playing time in the league.

Chief Pote 10-21-2008 09:41 AM

The Chiefs could barely beat their own meat.

gblowfish 10-21-2008 10:21 AM

They might beat North Texas...

dj56dt58 10-21-2008 10:22 AM

you guys are forgetting one small thing...Herm

Texas wins
