I didn't know anybody actually paid any attention to those things. I just have an unconscious habit of picking one at random.

Do my Oakley's fit a little tight?

HMMMMMMM?"

Or is it your wintertime Speedo?

And the possiblity that Shanahan "could" be using the Chiefs to make it look like he is looking for a job to be eligible for the $'s.

Very interesting...

Unless he's using the Chiefs as leverage to get the Raiders job (obviously unlikely) or is hoping that Jerry Jones will pull the trigger on Wade Phillips (which seems unlikely this offseason)... if Shanahan wants to be a head coach this offseason the Chiefs are his only option.

I don't care if it is Cowher or Shanahan... it just better be one of the two! I want a proven winner, someone with experience. Mort can be right or Schefter can be right for all I care.

How would Shanahan lose out on money if he didn't coach this year?

He may be a total stand-up guy, but his football takes are weak.

Me too

I don't really want Shanny as the next Chiefs coach but I would get some satisfaction watching Donkey fans squirm.

ugh...I don't want their DC. Maybe we can hire romeo crennel to be our defensive coordinator

BigRock 01-23-2009 05:55 PM

Linda Cohn said on ESPN News that the Chiefs told them they were "targeting" Shanahan, so that's the phrase they're now using. This Mortenson correction says the Chiefs have no comment, so either Linda is really confused or she let something slip she shouldn't have.

But if she's right and someone with the Chiefs spoke off the record to confirm the "targeting", it's probably a done deal.

The owner still owes Shanahan ~$17M and owes the other coaches ~$17M as well(combined). If those coaches aren't actively looking for a different head coaching job this offseason, then it will break their contract that is guaranteeing them that amount.

He doesn't have to actually coach to get the money, he just has to prove that he went out and looked, and no coaching position suited him....

It's seems that the Chiefs would contact the rat and the chin
just testing the waters if they would be interested

So is Mort doing Shanny some favors? :hmmm:

Well, shanny won't be calling that shot fortunately.
