The beauty of that thread was that I started it in the preseason of Rodgers first year of starting.

So you asked the question at a time when the Chiefs were juggling Damon Huard and Brodie Croyle as their starting QB while Derrick Johnson had yet to prove he was anything special on a defense completely devoid of talent.

GOSH GOLLY JEEPERS YOU KNOW HOW TO ASK THE TOUGH QUESTIONS, DEBERG!

You know what would be a great retrospective question to ask?

Would you rather have traded up for Luke Kuechly instead of drafting Dontari Poe?

That actually forces one to balance pros and cons. It limits the unknown as best as it can, and it takes a creative imagination to think just how different those Chiefs teams would be. Moreover, it poses a choice between two fantastic players instead of a perceived bust by the Chiefs (Johnson in 2007, Dorsey).

And because most football fans on this forum think retrospect is the only thing that matters, it would actually pose a question that people would have to THINK about. There might even be a real debate that takes place!

Good post. At the time I wanted to run away from Poe and I really liked Kuechly.

It's a close one and Kuechly would be worth trading up for. However, nose tackles are hard to find. In fact, it took us years to actually find one after switching to the 3-4. When we drafted Poe, we had RAC who is in the argument for the #1 NT coach of all time. He coached some of the best ever. If you are going to run the 3-4, NT is the most important piece imo.

Last I don't think Kuechly is going to get much better. I think he's a badass stud but, how much more can he grow? Poe on the other hand hasn't peaked yet imo. He has a very rare size and speed combo that is only seen maybe once a decade. Guys like Kuechly come around several times a decade imo.

In the end I'd go with Poe. I am 100% all in on Poe.

He is gonna get used and used and used up. Next will come the chronic injuries. I dont see any sign that we wont wear him down by mid season again.
