I don't understand why not take Geno? He's the best QB prospect in this draft and can sit for a couple years and develop and learn Andy's system til he's got it memorized. It's not like there's a top WR or defensive player worth number 1. Would love to take a shot on a 1st round QB for the first time in 30 years.

That's the problem with this year's draft - there are a ton of guys with POTENTIAL, but not many that are ready to step in and dominate. Hell, the prognosticators have flipped on who is the better tackle for the last few weeks from Joeckel to Fisher. Same with QB's, same with receivers, same with all the positions.
I think Reid and Dorsey realize this, and that is why they were busy in free agency. Essentially, they killed most of our "needs" through FA, and have turned our 1.1 pick into a luxury selection. The way they handled free agency sets up perfectly for drafting Geno if they wanted to. No pressure on the kid, just come in and watch how to prepare and get the feel for the speed of the pro game, then turn him loose next season. If he can beat out Alex for the starting gig next year, fantastic. If not, that's fine too, just take a little more time to get yourself acclimated.
