So, 33.6 ypc over those 19 carries. That tells me that he's providing slightly more than one game-changing play per game. That's what elite players do.

We need more positive yardage plays on first down and more first down conversion ability on the ground than we've had over the past few years. That's not all on Charles, but he hasn't been an answer in those areas consistently either.

I expect more boom than bust with the revamped offensive line though.

Boom or bust?

You have 8-9 players in the box on every single play. You have Daboll practically putting his playcalling on the scoreboard, he was that predictable. You have an offense that literally refused to throw the ball over 20 yards.

Jamaal Charles was NOT predictable in 2010, and that was behind shitty Matt Cassel again seeing 8 men in the box.

On almost every play I see 3 guys in the backfield and Charles slips away. I can't count the number of times he slipped away from a backfield that 99% of RBs would have taken for a loss.

I don't think I suggested anything about predictability. In fact, if anything, it's the opposite. And I'm not saying whose fault it was. If he had a shitty line, or terrible coaching, or a pathetic QB, those all might be contributors. Maybe he'll run for 5 or more yards on every carry this year after he gets support in those three areas. If so, I won't be concerned anymore.

Jamal Charles doesn't even carry the ball 20 times a game. It's completely normal to not rank him in the top 100 players.

And to start a thread over it? Kinda strange.

Only three RBs averaged 20 or more carries last season. Charles has been healthy two of the last three years, and he was 2nd in the NFL in rushing in 2010 and 4th in 2012. That's a top 100 player.

What world am I on if Jamaal isn't even in the top 100? I hope he sees this.

They'll all have egg on their face once he goes for 1500 again this year.

This may be the dumbest thing I've EVER read on here and that is saying ALOT

He's the ALLTIME leader in YPC and you are "concerned"

JFC that's reeruned as **** expecting a guy to get 5 a pop evfery time he touches it and anything less not good enough.

Yeah, I don't like counting on getting a breakaway 50+ yard TD run to have a chance to win a close game. I think it's great to get home runs like that, but this team is in desperate need of better 1st down play and more first downs in general.

Pasta Little Brioni 05-09-2013 08:40 AM

Charles is one of the more consistent runners in football. Sure, the team getting absolutely blown out took him out of some games, but it wasn't his play that did it. You are being ridiculous.

He's not consistent in the way that a RB who gets 2-5 yards every carry and averages 3.5 ypc is consistent. He's consistently good over a game's worth of carries because he's boom and bust on each carry. Like I said before, it's a combination of Charles, his OL, and the QB so I'm not saying that it can't be different with upgrades to the latter two.

Pasta Little Brioni 05-09-2013 09:03 AM

You couldn't be more wrong it's ridiculous. Besides even if you weren't, I'd take the guy that can get you the game breaking run anyday over some slug plodding for 2-3. Those turds are a dime a dozen.

Pasta Little Brioni 05-09-2013 09:06 AM

You don't make any sense. If you take way JC's best 20 carries, you have to do that to EVERY RB.

Let's say a guy averages 4YPC and without his long runs goes down to 3.5 because he's consistently mediocre ROFL. You'd take that over JC's 6 YPC dropping to 3.7???????
