Charles is pretty good, too. As are Hali and Bowe.

I really don't think it was a coincidence that once Vermeil left, the drafts improved exponentially.

It makes me :( that Clowney couldn't come out this year.

Serious? Pressure up the middle?

With those two OLB's?

Now for some free writing:

Havoc, melee, absurdity, shit **** balls pressure sacks

Rewatching now and Poe made two awesome plays on the first series.

Snap 1 - gets off a block, scrapes down the line and makes the tackle for a 1.5 yard gain.

Snap 2 - INSTANT penetration and basically forces a sack (horrible call by the refs).

Not sure if he played more than one series. He's out on the 2nd. Hali looked really good also IMO. You can see him beating that block easily in the 2nd GIF.

How in the hell is Bailey not being held on snap 2? It was like he had Velcro on his uniform.

As always, thanks because I swear before I scrolled down and saw it I was totally reading the comments and thinking damn it'd be awesome if Clay had gif'd up some of his snaps from tonight!

Gracias.

It should have been blown call. Makeup call next play I think with the hold call on the punt when they tacked on 10 to Dex's sweet return.

Yes, he was outstanding and certainly could spot defensive backs.

I'd love it if the Chiefs would bring him back as a Special Assistant to the GM.

I've said this numerous times- totally worth it come draft evaluation time. Some may not like him on the media - I do, and his evaluations during Senior Bowl, East West, Pro Days, etc are actually pretty damn informative and he does segments on ESPNs radio shows as well as the local shows for most of the NFL markets. I'm actually impressed by how much scouting and tape work he still does ad it seems like he and Jaws are about the only ones that do with any regularity of their NFL guys.

While that may technically be holding, that's not going to be called at any level. In fact O-line are coached from the beginning to do that. As long as your frame is square to the man in front of you and your hands are inside the shoulders, feel free to grab away. Now if the D-lineman can swim or rip and get to the side then if the O-lineman doesn't let go, he's going to get flagged.

Simply known as the "steering wheel". Ideal hand position for OL.

Gif #1 the entire D Line does a good job; DeVito gets great penetration and Jackson's man is on roller skates.

The true test for Poe will be when he faces the double team. Towards the end of last year he held his own when going head to head with a center or guard, but struggled with the double.

Exactly. Many don't understand this. One of the reason they say you can call "holding" on every play." Its because there is some type of it going on literally on every play

Pasta Little Brioni 08-10-2013 09:32 AM

But but he wouldn't start for dungver

Setsuna 08-10-2013 09:44 AM

Oh yeah that was INSTANT penetration....so instant Brees had ample time to pass. Hali got back there first. So did Hali exceed the speed of light to get there? Without Hali's penetration Brees would have been more focused on passing and would have gotten the ball away before Poe got there. Kool-Aid drinkers galore in here.
