The 3 passes Alex hit this year over 20:

2 to Avery against Tennessee
1 to Avery against Dallas (that huge third down conversion that Avery had to go low and slide to reel in)

It's not about arm strength, it's about balls.

It matters because of how many things a defense has to prepare for dictates how aggressive you can be as a playcaller.

Then talk to clay.

He said he doesn't have the ability

So those are all 5 yard passes?

Only 3 of them traveled over 20 air yards.

And how many were less than 10?

5 games into a new system for everyone. You keep forgetting this.

You're right, it is killing the defense.

what is the average for that?

33 percent doesn't seem that poor for passes of that nature.

Last year the league leader in passes 20+ hit 53 percent.

I don't ****ing know, and I don't ****ing care.

Unless we start consistently threatening defenses down the field this offense will NEVER be productive.

20 years as a fan of this franchise should teach you that.

FOREHEAD, OUT.

He's playing well. He's elevated his game back to 2011 levels.

Don't have an issue with him starting.

And again, he's accounted for 11 plays of 25+ yards. Does it matter how they occurred?

When you're refuting the argument that he can't throw downfield it does.

We're discussing Alex Smith's abilities.

He lacks the ability to complete passes down the field.

That is why our offense is suffering and Bowe's numbers are down.

Disagree. I think Bowe's numbers are down b/c Alex complete less than 50%of his sideline passes, and Bowe spend more time than any receiver out there.

The fact that he has thrown downfield refutes that

Kind of like the one where he had to come back to the back against Tennessee?
