But shit man, we may just have to have another housing collapse to ever get back to normalcy.

If contraction doesn’t do it, it’ll be far worse than 08.

Sounds like some of you are going to take it balls deep.

Just look at it this way.... One less family vacation a year or never eating out again.

It's WORSE nationwide.

Because at least in the midwest, you started from more reasonable numbers. And since the impact of interest rates multiplies with higher dollar figures, if you go anywhere with a higher COL, you're going to feel this even more.

Builders build so they're gonna keep building. And you'd like to think that sooner or later you'll have a situation where spec homes are a little more affordable and thus help slowly boost supply and thus drive the market back down in response to interest rate changes.

But shit man, we may just have to have another housing collapse to ever get back to normalcy. Or some TRULY catastrophic rate hikes. But man those are going to make things hard on new home owners so it's awfully difficult for me to get behind that as well.

I just don't know how to softly land this plane. You may just need to steer it into a mountain.

I hate to souind conspiratorial but the people who make these policies have no interest in things going back to any form of normalcy. There's way too much money to be made this way for the every day citizen to be given a fighting chance.

And yes contraction of the money supply is exactly set up to slow down the housing market. Hope it works. I’m headed out of this area soon enough. Will definitely be a shoebox instead of a palace as I set up for the 3rd and 4th quarter of life.

I pulled the trigger in 87 at 10%, thinking that was as low as we were going to see again.

This is not true. The elderly are definitely feeling the pain...they have had depressed valuations for for a long time, and the valuation model is hitting them hard because every part of the city has seen so much investor renovations over the past 3 yrs that is pulling all properties up. The elderly invest very little in their homes, therefore they are getting pulled up way too high based on the renovated sale prices. The software they use does not have a check box for "elderly" or "minority".

Where are you getting the info that "Frank White and city leaders went down"?

When rentals next door are barely going up in comparison they know who owns what. Hell that information is public record who owns.the house and when it was bought. If it is paid off. What insurance is on the home. Tons of information to determine the rest of the info.

This is a property grab. It also appears they are using past sales during the peak from a year ago on renovated homes for all home values.

Where in the **** is there great infrastructure in Jackson County? LMAO

Does this dickhead not realize inflation is still a thing? Or that most of Jackson County (Kansas City) is forced to pay a 1% tax just for living or working in this shit hole? Does he not realize in some areas of the city you pay a higher sales tax than cities like NYC?

What made Kansas City great was how affordable and that's quickly changed due to dumbass voters like Jonas & shit bag politicians

I think what Jonas Lippuner is trying to tell you is............

"Squeal like a Pig" and be thankful for it.

Pablo 06-28-2023 08:49 AM

Jonas lives in the only good part of Jackson County. Of course he is happy with the arrangement. Good schools, nice areas to shop and eat, low crime. Oh, also just so happens to be where all of the people with a little bit of money live as well.

Crazy how that works out.
