It's also been seven games. If he hit .110 in a week-long stetch in mid July, does anyone give much of a damn?

He just doesn't have a position. And with Tavares and Adams potential, seems he'd be a prime move candidate.

With that contract though, it's not likely

I actually just looked up the details of that contract. Of the $43 million in the total deal, 33 is in the last three years, and the final year can be bought out for $1 million. He's only making $2.8 this year. That makes him more movable, but it's also below market value.

You also have to consider what you'd get back, what problems you may have with the development of Taveras and Piscotty, how Holliday will decline, and if Adams will ever be able to hit LHP.

I don't think you move him this year, now, if you are to move him, to many unknowns.

I'm not sure he'd be viewed as valuable in a trade as he is to the cardinals.

O.city 04-08-2014 07:30 PM

Damn, good looking inning went to pot there.

Two hard hit balls lead to outs

O.city 04-08-2014 07:32 PM

At what point in the year do you look at piscotty,Tavares, or grichuk to come up and provide something off the bench?

September?

Yes, but think about how hard those balls were hit compared to our everyday CF and SS last year.

Yeah

Seems Peralta has had some back luck early this year. I'm to laY to look, but I'd imagine his babip is pretty low

O.city 04-08-2014 07:36 PM

We cannot ever get mosorocca out.

I bet that ****er hits .400 against us

No real point to start the clock on Piscotty this year unless two of Adams, Holliday, and Craig go down simultaneously. September call-up and bench bat in the PS? Possibly. Grichuk has all of six games in at Memphis. Too soon to know. Oscar is still young, but probably the least mature.
It wouldn't surprise me if none of them come up pre-September, barring injuries.

Also, terrible managing by the Reds there. Mesoraco is not a fast runner, and with the pitcher up you can move him over to third with the ultra fast Hamilton at the plate. Hamilton could hit a squibber and still leg it out. Instead, now he needs a legit base hit to have a chance to score the run.

O.city 04-08-2014 07:41 PM

Lynn missed his spot by a foot, but got an out.

O.city 04-08-2014 07:42 PM

I don't figure any of the 3 would be up before September barring injury. No point really. I'm anxious to see how fast they move along the left handed pitchers recently drafted.

O.city 04-08-2014 07:43 PM

We really need Shelby to further turn the corner this year.

Good to see Wong off to a good start

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-08-2014 07:53 PM

****. I think Yadi could have beaten that out.

O.city 04-08-2014 07:54 PM

I don't think Craig is healthy

3rd baseman lays on it, throws it to second, Phillips dances around the bag, still gets Craig by a step

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-08-2014 07:58 PM

That ball gets to the wall if Jay is in center.

O.city 04-08-2014 08:00 PM

Be nice if our 3/4 hitters could do something

Jeez man. Enjoy the loaded team they have now. No need to move Craig.

Nicely done, Scroate.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-08-2014 08:51 PM

Yadi learned that from Albert. Pujols was one of the only guys I've seen who could keep his hands inside and keep that ball fair. Excellent piece of hitting.

Yadi is now a triple away from the cycle, which is to say he's just as far away now as when he started.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-08-2014 08:57 PM

We got Bourjos and Grichuk out of Freese and Salas. That's just amazing.

Pasta Little Brioni 04-08-2014 08:58 PM

Forgot all about that turd Salas

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-08-2014 09:10 PM

Martinez just fitted Ludwick for a pair of clown shoes.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-08-2014 09:12 PM

Carlos Martinez is so filthy we might have to call him Ass to Mouth.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-08-2014 09:22 PM

With Votto and Bruce looming, Siegrist should be stretching out.

Pasta Little Brioni 04-08-2014 09:32 PM

We should have traded Miller while his stock was still high. :(

His fate is not decided yet. If we were to play what ifs, then drafting Mike Trout is a much bigger what if/do over/go back in time mistake.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-09-2014 11:05 PM

Damn. Miller is already light years better than someone like Homer Bailey was at his age. Give it a rest, guys.

Pepe Silvia 04-09-2014 11:52 PM

I'm probably jumping the gun but I'm starting to get nervous.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-09-2014 11:58 PM

Who would you rather have:

3.63 ERA/ 4.42 xFIP/ 6.00 K/9
3.06 ERA/ 3.73 xFIP/ 8.78 K/9
3.66 ERA/ 4.17 xFIP/ 8.17 K/9
4.84 ERA/ 4.70 xFIP/ 7.30 K/9

Pitcher #1 is Justin Verlander, age 23
Pitcher #3 is Justin Verlander, age 24
Pitcher #4 is Justin Verlander, age 25

Pitcher #2 is Shelby Miller, age 22

KC_Connection 04-10-2014 12:59 AM

Buehrle for Miller seems fair. Mark would love playing back home in St. Louis. :)

Good point. It's early after all.

On a side note I had no idea Verlanders ERA was that high even in a single season.

KC_Connection 04-10-2014 04:03 AM

Verlander didn't become elite until his age 26 season. Takes a while sometimes.

I'd be more nervous about where our consistent power threats are going to be than any single one of our starters.

We are Cardinal fans. Why worry at all? It's like listening to the beakers whine, but we actually win championships that matter.

Waino said in spring training that he believed that out of all the pitchers on the staff that Miller has the best chance to the win the Cy Young and throw a no hitter first.

O.city 04-11-2014 07:43 AM

Shelby's still a baby in terms of baseball development. Give the kid time to learn to pitch, if in 2-3 years he's plateaued at where he is now, he's a 3/4 fettle starter, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Just needs time.

Jeez man. What's with baseball fans and overreacting? In other news the Blues are absolute horse shit right now.

Jewish Rabbi 04-11-2014 08:09 PM

Kelly must have some mental thing about the 7th inning. Cruising all game then just starts nibbling at the plate.

Overreacting?

He's not exactly a young pup anymore, has an injury history, and isn't hitting the ball with any authority (something he normally does).

Pasta Little Brioni 04-11-2014 08:11 PM

Wong error didn't help

O.city 04-11-2014 08:12 PM

Statistically incorrect.

Maybe emotionally more significant

Edit: not technically statistically, as with more potential games you have more potential wins/losses
