that was the intent.... quid pro quo. It fell flat on my face.

Redrum_69 04-19-2007 02:55 PM

This one time, in grade school, I had gas really bad. I kept farting and farting, and it made people laugh, so I did kept at it. Well, soon I was grunting and pushing really hard just to get the next fart out and I shit my pants.

I had to walk from the back of the school bus, past everyone who was laughing, and walk about 150 yards past the other school buses and inside the school to the restroom. After cleaning up, I noticed it had, soaked through my jeans and the back of my shirt, and I had to walk to the office and call home for extra clothes.

I never force-farted again.

With all respect, it sounds like a rental to me, Mr. Baby Lee.

I do have a question, though. I saw this movie once that was set in the '40s or so about an actual, real vampire guy who was hired to play this other vampire guy in a movie. Anyway, the actual, real vampire guy didn't cast a reflection in a mirror. So, how could they film him?

I asked questions about the response and was blasted as doing something wrong. Then, many of the same questions and ideas I had were asked by journalists and talking heads (on both sides of the spectrum) and by security analysts.

The minute 30 innocent people died was the time to start asking why.

The minute thousands of people were victimized by Katrina was the time to start asking why.

FAX

My apologies, Mr. FAX. You have always seemed fair-minded to me. You have always treated everyone with respect even when you disagree with them. And that is admirable. You have always been fair with me. You are an asset to this community.

Your points are well taken. I understand what you are saying and don't entirely disagree with you. The making of blanket accusations by anyone is not a noble thing to do. I have probably been guilty of that when arguing with hard righties before. But my motivation in this instance has not been to defend denise's actions on their own, but to point out that they have not exceeded the actions of others who have not been nominated for banning.

I have always defended everybody's right to say whatever they believe. But I also reserve the right to call someone out when I think they've crossed the line. In fact, the evolution of this thread may ultimately prove beneficial to everyone including myself. But I don't believe in censorship and I don't believe in banning, per se. The only time I get a little edgy is when someone decides to forego the gist of an argument to hurl vulgar personal insults.

And that is really all I'm pointing out here. I believe that the obscene insults are the direct result of the same menatality that motivated the banning thread to begin with. Some people are just sick and tired of not being able to get the best of someone that they disagree with. And they don't have the wherewithal to rise above it.

As far as I go, personally, I have never advocated a banning. I have never ragged on someone for expressing their opinion. The only thing I have ever protested has been the personal attacks. In fact, I don't think I've ever even given negative rep (Disclaimer: I do have one night of infamy that I confess may have resulted in lashing out with neg rep but my memory is blank from that night so I'm not making a definitive declaration. But I don't think I ever have).

People are entitled to speak their opinions. But that doesn't mean that it's okay to veil public personal attacks as opinions or even disagreements, IMO. When it comes to denise, she has been able to get under the skin of other posters who disagree with her without resorting to direct personal attacks (that I know of). Whether or not she lumps all of those who disagree with her together as being the same is something I'm not prepared to dispute or defend.

It just explains your misconception. I don't know what topics RINGLEADER posted on prior to the DC separation, but it's highly unlikely that he set up his account in 2001 just so it would be available to blitzkrieg the board with pro-Republican posts in the months leading up to the 2004 elections. So much for your "in the beginning" comment.

He didn't just drop in here as a political poster the way MadProphetMargin did and start posting on football as an afterthought (which MPM refused to do). He came here because he's a Chiefs fan. He posted about politics during the 2004 election cycle presumably because he's also interested in politics.

There is no way that RINGLEADER falls into the category of posters who should be banned because of a lack of participation in the Lounge.

Although I was under the apparently mistaken impression that it had become a dead letter, the rule about participation in football threads was in effect long before the 2004 elections so again you impugn him by suggesting that that's the reason he started posting in the Lounge almost exclusively again after Bush beat Kerry.

My perception is that RINGLEADER is a Chiefs fan who is also interested in politics and who decided to go to war with jAZ and other lefties who were flooding the board with anti-Bush/pro-Kerry threads (one of the main reasons why DC was created in the first place) instead of letting them dominate the political discussions. He did a great job too. And then, he went back to posting about the Chiefs.

I never said Ringleader should be banned my only problem with him was his constant political posting and I felt the exact way with Jaz. That is why I voted with the majority for moving the political stuff to a different forum because the political crap was mucking up the main Lounge.

As I stated before I have no problem with Ringleader now and haven't for quite some time because he actually contributes to the Lounge and I am glad he is still around.

I honestly think they should force the rule about posting in the Lounge more because this actually a Chiefs football board not a political circle jerk.

I agree with your position on the personal attacks, Mr. penchief. Only on rare occasions (and usually having something to do with Mr. Rain Man), am I forced to resort to such tactics.

I don't have the time to source a sampling of Ms. memyselfI's posts that support my perspective on this, but you're very smart and you can see them for yourself. They're easy to find. They're the posts in which Ms. memyselfI includes statements similar to ... "people who do such and such are childish", or "those who think such and such a way are clueless", etc.

When I see statements like those, I have no interest or desire in communicating with that person because they have already, ostensibly, "lumped" my opinion in with others regardless of any potential nuance that might be an aspect of my view. That's why, I think, that she is such a polarizing person in the minds of so many. She may find that a lot of the people here might engage and even agree with her more often if her posting style was less chauvinistic.

denise,

May I make a suggestion? There are many of us that are defending you on principle alone. I have yet to see the justification for banning you and that is why I have spoken out against it. That said, you and I pretty much agree on our politics. So why is it that you are nominated for an annual banning while I only have to suffer personal attacks against my manhood?

If you are extending an extra dig, could you soften your approach so that the rest of us are not left hanging out there when we are caught in limbo trying to defend your right to say what you believe? I do not begrudge those who disagree with our politics but it seems like you're pissing them off to the point where reason no longer applies. I understand that it may only be the result of your being a strongly opinionated woman. But if you are including those extra twists for emphasis, can you please consider the rest of us that are trying to convince the other side that we don't believe in those same tactics?

If she's referring to everybody that disagrees with her, then your point is valid. But if she's just referring to only those who resort to personal attacks against her, then I agree with her.

It's not your manhood....it's the tinfoil hat and angel wings which are the source of derision.... ;)

You yourself said you're just not passionate about football anymore. A quick glance at your posts suggest that if you're that narrowly focused on human interest stories and politics, there's better bulletin boards for you to frequent.

And before anyone comes running in screaming about how unfair this is, it's happened before. We've banned multiple people under this very same premise.

Without prejudice:

This thread finally proves beyond all shadow of doubt (to ME) that quite a few of you pansy azzed bunch around here are as idiotic as you are ignorant.

There has NEVER been anyone who has ever posted more bullshit NON-football related topics on the planet than Goatboy.

And yet he’s still here with his reeruned masturbation threads and what ever else tickles his fancy.

What’s that you say?
"We’ve tried banning him and he finds ways back".
That in it’s self would qualify for PERMANENT account deleation on quite a few message boards.
But NOPE!
Not here on the "all high and mighty Chiefsplanet" I guess you take into account he cheers for the queers in red and gold and just manage to do what you can’t seem to be intelligent enough to do with Meme
IGNORE the problem.
You inforce the "rules", his circumvents them and basically tells you bunch to go pack your self, and all is forgotten in a matter of weeks.

Kind of a double standard there guy’s don’t ya think?

It’s alright for anyone to say what ever they want it would seem, as long as their one of the "Cool kids" and play suit to the general conformity of the place.
I mean god forbid anyone have a counter point of view and be allowed to use free will of their typing skills.

Has it ever occured to you chest beating he man neanderthals that just quite possibly she’s doing it to pull your chain?
Oh gee never thought of that did ya?
Lord knows Anton did.

Maybe the poor gal does have some issues, PUT HER ON IGNORE if she bothers you that much.
After day 3 around here Mr. Doll’s "posting in the third person rhetoric" got so damn annoying to me I can"almost" count on 1 hand how many of his posts I’ve even read, let alone posted on. (Drum related thread not withstanding currently in the media section )
Lord knows there’s enough idiots I find so damn irritating that I simply skip over anything they have to say. Even if they are "quoted"
But NOPE!
Again your tiny little minds just can‘t wrap it’s self around that concept either.

First the, big bad, always got smaque, Iowian dude does a post a crying over a spilt milk cyber threat he claims is bogus, but yet takes as a serious threat to his personal wellbeing or some such shit.
GROW A SET ALREADY

Followed by the always reeruned "Lets make a poll to see if this or that person should be banned."

When that didn’t work you go on a witch hunt with some totally asinine threat of banning a person for NON-football related posting.

Clear Vision.

Really?
How about showing the results of the same cross section with let’s say Rainman
I’d love to see the results of that one

This is a message board on the Internet.
Has that fact passed you by?
It seems so to me.
I’ve seen the planet take many highs and lows in the years I’ve been around.

I had hoped to make the 10,000 post club one day.
But I don’t think I can stomach that much bullsh*t to make it.

Here's the thing, Meme likes to pretend she's impervious to these barbs, . . . until she's not. She slings shit, slings it, and slings it some more until everyone hates everyone else in the thread. Then people refute her arguments, . . . she's unfazed. Then they prove her a liar, . . . she's unfazed. By this point it's a mission to bring home to her how degrading and dispiriting her tactics are to the board as a whole [or at least anyone who pays her any attention], so the insults start, then they escalate, . . she's unfazed.

Until she's fazed.

Then she's a widdle go-wuhl again, boo-booing in the thoroughfare.

Then it's threats of legal action and more drama and white knights like you coming along to restore her honor, oblivious to the fact that she discarded her own honor years and battles ago.

excellent post...and now noobs know why DC was created, because almost everything she posts in, turns into a thread about her...just like she likes it...the proof is in the buddy buddy BS "i hope you have pos rep stored up..." responses.
