BioShock Confirmed for PS3
Would you kindly believe the rumors now?
By Michael Donahoe, 05/22/2008
Cue the I-told-you-so's -- the everlasting rumor about last year's Xbox 360 hit BioShock popping up on the PS3 turns out to be true. According to the July issue of EGM, publisher 2K Games has confirmed that the underwater shooter is making the transition to Sony's shores.

Still don't believe us? Well, if you catch yourself a copy of the July issue (hitting subscribers as we speak, and on newsstands on June 3), you'll get the full scoop on how the Xbox 360 will translate (including some potential graphical improvements) in time for the 2008 holiday season.

Along with a chat with BioShock's new creative director Jordan Thomas (taking over the sunken series from creator Ken Levine), EGM has the first screens and info, including some fishy details about the future of Rapture.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG !!!!!!

REP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE THIS GAME ON MY 360!!!! AND NOW THAT I SOLD THAT TO MY BRO (B/C I HAVE NO TIME TO PLAY BOTH 360/PS3 AND WII) I CAN PLAY IT AGAIN!!!!!! please dont let this be a joke....

Thanks KCxiv!!! :hail:

p.s. the caps are excitment caps.. and not shouting caps ;)

Buck 05-23-2008 10:24 PM

So, I got my kill to death ratio to about .98 in COD4

I have about 95 more deaths than kills. I was so horrible for so long that it got to about 600 more deaths than kills. This will be a huge accomplishment when I get to even. Hopefully it isn't the end of the game for me though.

At least I still have a shit load left of GTA IV

Fire Me Boy! 05-24-2008 01:21 PM

Just finished Uncharted. Good game overall, but

Spoiler!

I was really, REALLY enjoying the game up until that point, which is around the 85-90 percent done line.

ZootedGranny 05-24-2008 05:16 PM

I actually enjoyed that twist, because up until that point, it was gunfight after gunfight with the adventure aspect used as a short diversion.

I have quite a few problems with the game, but it was worth the rental.

Buck 05-24-2008 09:44 PM

Anyone tried Haze yet, I almost just picked it up from Walmart but decided against it.

xbarretx 05-25-2008 09:56 AM

guys, why has no one else went crazy for the bioshock news!? its truly a :cuss: -ing amazing game

Kraus 05-25-2008 05:00 PM

Being a 360 guy, I'm still glad Bioshock is making its way to the PS3. That game deserves a large audience. Hopefully the more Bioshock sells, the longer 2K can stay independent of EA.

yes indeed, AND that means the sequel will be on PS3

Downloaded the Bowling game for the ps3. Its pretty cool game. I like how you actually swing the damn controller like a bowling ball. lol

The game was getting terrible reviews almost everywhere.

That's too bad because Free Radical is an awesome dev.

I won't be able to play a game until tonight, but my first impression is that the interface is very slick. It seems improved since the last time I saw it on the PSP.

I do need to find out what is causing horrifically slow downloads, though. Even taking the router out of the equation and directly connecting to the modem, my PS3 takes ages to download anything.

Where did you get that deal?

ZootedGranny 05-27-2008 05:33 PM

EBGames/Gamestop is running a deal where they give you $80 for your old PS2, an extra controller & a memory card. After trading mine in along with a fewof games, I had about $200 in credit.

Starting next Monday, Wal-Mart is running a deal where they give you a $100 gift card with the purchase of a 40 gig PS3.

I just read an interesting article on what happens when (if) you need your 60G model repaired. I know a couple of you went thru this so take note: It's best to send to SONY rather than take top where you bought it.

Has anyone ever put music on their PS3 w/ a burned CD? Just want to know if it works.

BryanBusby 06-09-2008 05:46 AM

Word on the street is Wal-Mart will be offering the $100 giftcard on MGS bundles.

Notes on the giftcard:
-Giftcard can be used on anything from the store, not just blu-ray stuff. If the bluecoater that helps you is cool, you might be able to apply the card on the spot for the PS3 itself.
-If you buy the PS3 online with the giftcard, you can only use it for online purchases.

Other: If you have a SonyStyle card that offers $100 cashback on a Sony related purchase from $299 or more from an authorized retailer, you can shave another $100 off the purchase.

Going to nab the MGS bundle this week with my Sony card and discount card. Getting this bundle for a little over $300 after discounts and giftcard is too sweet of a deal to pass up.

Farzin 06-09-2008 05:48 AM

Add me .. My PS3 name is BusBrain21

I am in love with the system ever since I bought it back in Augest of last year. First game I got was Rainbow Six Vegas. Anyone know when the hell home is coming out?

007 06-14-2008 04:38 AM

Since the PS3 doesn't seem to have the overheating problems that Xbox has, how many actually put this on a shelf on the entertainment center rather than on top of the center.

TinyEvel 06-14-2008 07:56 AM

I have mine in an entertainment center shelf but the back panel is cut open and it has about 8 inches above it and six on either side.
The PS3 does kick out the heat. I had to raise the shelf above it because it overheated (and temporarily froze) the DIRECTV receiver right above it.

I have noticed the resale value of PS3 games is higher than that of Xbox games. Cod4 for PS3 is going for over $40 while the Xbox version is $35 or less. Probably because there are fewer games available for PS3 at this point I would imagine.

Buck 06-17-2008 12:07 AM

Oddly enough, my 3 favorite games are COD 4, GTA 4, and MGS 4. The next game ill be picking up is Soul Caliber 4

its not bad Jason but to be honest the prologue is what ruined it. as a GT fan i hate that game. there was no reason to make it. the PS3 could of put in a much better game than that....no way does it stand equal to LBP and MGS4 ..... :shake: everything else (game clips and all) rocked. the voice seems comical though, is that the actual voice used for it?

I agree about GT5...its a let-down from GT3 (which is the last one I played). It looks really good, but the game has taken a couple steps back.

In the assortment of exclusives, these are the most unique and ownable and within the timeframe of the spot.

my opinion wasnt marketing based JAy. its based on a personal bias. i would of much rather seen more LBP and MGS4.

on a serious note...was that the actual voice to be used? seriosuly.... it makes me cringe. i like the dialogue just not the actualy sound of the voice.

I have to agree on the voice. Needs to be much deeper and sound more american.

TinyEvel 06-17-2008 06:00 PM

The audio is from a performance of Shakespeare's King Henry V. It is supposed to be Brittish sounding. A zag for a game ad, but that's the point. Also, it sounds like junk on the web. Compressed and no bass. On TV it is more cinematic and full.

Voice was really the only thing I didn't like. I thought the GT footage looked nice. My question is this, is the GT footage a cut scene or actual game play?

The graphics of the cutscenes in GT5 Prologue and the gameplay are the same. The only difference is the camera angles. THe scene from the driver's seat is actual gameplay (one of the view options: in-cockpit view. Accurate for each model. They scanned 900 vehicle interiors for the full GT5 game) So that one and the one chasing cars through London Streets is driver POV out of cockpit. We chose a lot of the replay footage because it was the most dynamic and showed a variety of vehicles and tracks. But the game footage is really really nice. Some people walked in on the editor during the edit and thought he was editing a car ad, said "this film looks great" heh.

I can tell you that I've seen stuff on my 65" plasma that looks very close to HD. (though looking at a hole that you could feasibly climb into is not all that appetizing)

The issue is, if you download and save to your PS3 media folder, there's no way to password protect just that folder, so if you have a family that uses the nav bar to watch movies or play games, it's risky.

Or, at least I've heard. :thumb:

I haven't installed Linux, but I'm pretty sure that when you want to play a game, you need to use the PS3's OS.

This update is a precursor to an update that will be out within the month that lets you access your messages (and hopefully music) while playing the game.

You would not be able to do this on the Linux side.

I was only asking Slag since I knew he wiped out his PS3 to run Linux on it. I figured by him doing that, the PS3 was technically just a computer at that point.

Not At all
I bought the PS3 because I wanted to game, and I usually preferred Computer gaming, but to seriously computer game building a computer to do what I want would have been way out of my budget, but Now I have a computer that Plays Games better than most computers for Less than what most suckas payed.

I did install linux, and I use it as my main PC, but of the PS3's 40gb hdd I only gave linux 10gb of it... Sony designed the GameOS to do this, you just choose format 10GB for Other OS... then put your Linux Disc in and install... So simple.

When I want to Play PS3 I just choose from Linux.. "Boot GameOS" and it reboots back as a PS3 back and forth I go All day long

Seriously? Damn!!! Linux thinks of everything.

I am kind of surprised that Sony allows users to do this and not void the warranty as well as access to the online stuff.

I am kind of surprised that Sony allows users to do this and not void the warranty as well as access to the online stuff.

Yes Sony's Original Idea was to have the system Ship with linux... but that didnt happen.
Sony in partnership with IBM and Toshiba wanted to keep the system open to Open Source developers and programmers so they could have access to program for the CELL processor - they released the PS3 SDK for this reason... the only thing Linux does not have access to (At the Moment) is Access to the RSX Video Engine.

Here is some good reading for you:
