Yeah and he barely survived that.

Whew. That was scary... 3 hanging curve balls to start the AB.

Wade has arguably not been quite the same since.

And it was still totally worth it.

ChiTown 10-12-2017 09:53 PM

Ok, minimal pitches to close the 7th. Let’s see how the 8th goes

No, I'd say he's been the same, slightly less effective, but still a big weapon.

He went from cyborg to fantastic.

Still good, but the man was on a historic level from 14-15.

penbrook 10-12-2017 10:00 PM

Two former royals players pitching to keep their teams alive. Our bullpen was just unstoppable

True, and we were very fortunate to have the Cyborg years.

I would suspect it would be easier if the Cubs have someone that resembles of Hochevar, Herrera, and/or Holland to make it more easier.

That's what makes me so very appreciative of the Royals bullpen in 2014 and 2015. I doubt you'll ever find a bullpen that can be this lethal for some time these days.

penbrook 10-12-2017 10:06 PM

Come on Nats!

jd1020 10-12-2017 10:08 PM

Strikes coming at a premium.

eDave 10-12-2017 10:11 PM

Cubs disappointment incoming.

penbrook 10-12-2017 10:11 PM

I called it. I knew Davis wasn’t gonna be on his game. He’s a closer not a receiver Maddon! He goes only a inning.

jd1020 10-12-2017 10:11 PM

Good thing he went to Strop so god damn early so he had to go to Davis so god damn early.

Maddon's bullpen manage is ****ing atrocious.

tk13 10-12-2017 10:12 PM

No safety net here.

penbrook 10-12-2017 10:13 PM

Lind you are reeruned! First pitch you see and you swung!! After Davis walked the guys in front of you

He went multiple innings 3 times in the 2015 postseason.

mr. tegu 10-12-2017 10:14 PM

I can't even imagine how mad I would be if I were a Nationals fan after that AB.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-12-2017 10:15 PM

I fully support the death penalty for any hitter (I'm looking at you, too, Jon Jay) that swings at the first pitch after two straight walks.

penbrook 10-12-2017 10:16 PM

Michael Taylor literally saving the Nats season

Coach 10-12-2017 10:16 PM

Cyborg malfunctioning. Needs a v3.0 upgrade.

Simply Red 10-12-2017 10:19 PM

so Davis sucks now?

penbrook 10-12-2017 10:20 PM

Let’s go Nats!!

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-12-2017 10:20 PM

Eat **** pie, Davis.

He's not the same. Of course, Maddon burned him up a bit yesterday (which was entirely dumb), so that isn't helping Davis at the moment.

jd1020 10-12-2017 10:20 PM

Even getting out of this you still have to go through the middle of the order next inning. **** this.

No. Just asking too much of him. I'd hate to be a Cub fan right now. You know what's coming...

There's a reason GMDM traded him last year. He hasn't been a borg since the 2015 playoffs. Still damn good, but he's no longer automatic.

penbrook 10-12-2017 10:22 PM

Wow this is close

jd1020 10-12-2017 10:22 PM

Out. Please god give them an angle.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-12-2017 10:23 PM

****ing catcher getting backpicked off first. Just be dumber, Lobaton.

GloryDayz 10-12-2017 10:23 PM

Unbelievable

jd1020 10-12-2017 10:24 PM

**** YA.

tk13 10-12-2017 10:24 PM

Yeah he was probably out but I'm not sure that's definitive.

Frazod 10-12-2017 10:24 PM

I hope that dumb mother****er gets shanked tonight.

penbrook 10-12-2017 10:24 PM

Lobaton might be the next Bartman if the Nats lose this

Chiefspants 10-12-2017 10:25 PM

Huge

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-12-2017 10:25 PM

I never thought I'd see a more brain dead baserunning play at first than Kolten Wong in the 2013 WS.

Simply Red 10-12-2017 10:25 PM

I figured he has been over worked.

Surely not definitive enough to make THAT call. That was huge.

I hate replay in baseball. He beat the throw, I don’t care if his foot came 1/2 inch off the bag.

So you dont care that players have to remain on a base to be safe? Just beat the throw.

Even that, I couldn't tell if the tag was still on when his foot came off the bag.

Every sport is fine without replay but there's a reason its there and thats to get calls right.

tk13 10-12-2017 10:28 PM

I still need to see that again, that's not convincing at all to me. Still no way you should get picked off there.

penbrook 10-12-2017 10:29 PM

The side by side replay clearly shows the tag being applied to Butt**** with his foot coming off

The 1985 St. Louis Cardinals would vehemently disagree with you on that one.

ROFL, like you'd be arguing this if it happened the other way in a game the Nats were leading.

There's a reason why the neighborhood play was accepted baseball for a century

I like replay and getting it right, but that kind of stuff gets annoying after a while, IMO.... similar in hockey where someone is offsides by half an inch prior to a goal being scored.

At least this time it was just bad luck as opposed to getting pushed off the base like Gore in Houston a couple years ago.

I dont argue against obvious. Out is out.

I disagree, replay has helped more than hurt. It's the subjective nature of the "clear and convincing" part is the problem.

I didn't see any clear and convincing (based on the angles that was shown on replay) that it should be overturned.

penbrook 10-12-2017 10:34 PM

This is it guys! Strap yourself in. This is gonna be a wild bottom of the ninth

tk13 10-12-2017 10:34 PM

Here's the real test. Davis has sat down and cooled off twice now, and has to face the Nationals big hitters.

Bearcat 10-12-2017 10:35 PM

And this happened during that review... :cuss:

I'm expecting hard scary contact. He's been throwing shit right down the middle or way the **** out in space.

Cubs have had a Giants-sized horseshoe up their ass for two years. No reason to believe it's going to fall out now.

jd1020 10-12-2017 10:39 PM

Jesus that looked good off the bat. Let out a little oh **** there.

mr. tegu 10-12-2017 10:39 PM

That pick off also prevented a guaranteed AB for Zimmerman.

Wade going for the kind of legendary 2015 ALCS kind of finish.

jd1020 10-12-2017 10:42 PM

1 more and its Bryce ****ing Harper. Couldnt script it.

Missing location all over the place and getting bailed out by bad baserunning, good sequencing, and bad swings?

The final score is all that matters, but the 06 Cardinals showed you that, I'm sure.

Coach 10-12-2017 10:43 PM

Harper missed that 1-1 pitch. Probably the best pitch he's ever going to see.

It's all that people remember, but it's not a testament of merit, which is why the '04 and '05 teams were better.

jd1020 10-12-2017 10:45 PM

**** YES!

Coach 10-12-2017 10:45 PM

Of course, Harper can't help himself by swinging an obvious pitch.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-12-2017 10:46 PM

That's a game that both teams deserved to lose. Too bad only the Nats did.

Frazod 10-12-2017 10:46 PM
