Pretty hilarious when you think about it.

Some of the funniest moments have been with The Deep, and I can understand why HomeLander is so messed up. I can tune out the political crap because this is an alternate reality. Most of the time, I am entertained and at others, I just roll my eyes.

I wouldn't mind an episode showing Homelander while growing up.

They flashed to this innocent baby locked in a vault assuming it was him in a past episode.

Last night was the first time I sided with Homelander.

If Kripke didn't ram Firecracker down the audience's throat the story would be exponentially more interesting but He's just too obvious with his hate for conservatives this season.

Agreed, the same thing could be accomplished without repeatedly using the same boring character.

Season one was fine with that one dude, which oh just happens to be a damn carbon copy.

A city full of mentally unstable superhumans, and politics is a feature of the show? Jesus.

Hopefully Homelander will shed his need for outside validation, and completely disregard the rule of law.

The Boys has basically always been a show that is heavily critical of American government. It's just way more on the nose than it was because the actor that plays Homelander and the showrunner got super pissed people were missing the message.

When Antony Starr is doing interviews basically saying if you love Homelander you're a moron that is missing the point of the character and the show..yea.

It's the viewers fault that Homelander is by far and objectively the best character on the show?

It's like these people don't understand that audiences love villains. Was Christopher Nolan complaining that people loved Heath Ledger's Joker more than Batman? Was QT complaining that everybody loved Hans Landa?

Butcher is a great character too, and easily the 2nd best, and he's far more anti-hero than hero.

staylor26 06-21-2024 12:40 PM

Starlight? Hughie?

I did not at all miss your point.

The writers are pissed because Homelander is supposed to represent Trump/MAGA and people love him anyways. I totally understand that point.

But they don't understand that nobody loves a great hero more than a great villain, and you don't seem to get that either based on you agreeing with Starr.

And yet people STILL love Homelander and are watching mostly because he's one of the greatest villains in TV history.

The show isn't as good as it use to be, they're far more focused on telling a bunch of people that watch that show "you're dumb for thinking this character rules"

It was like they decided we infantilized him in season 1, in season 2 we had him **** a literal Nazi and people still think he's great...so **** it we're gonna make him Trump to tell all these people they suck.

It's made the show worse in all reality.

100%.

That's why I couldn't care less about Frenchie's new bf who's family he killed storyline, or Hughie's mom coming back into his life storyline.

I'd argue that Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character is the third most interesting this season, and he's new with little to no screen time so far.

His arc was so good, as in he didn’t change once since you met him. He’s always a piece of shit. The motivations for how you want to see that season play out into making him the bad guy. But he never changed

Bowser 06-22-2024 09:58 AM

What did happen with Soldier Boy, anyway? Last thing he did was fall out the high rise while making Maeve human, right? They just put him back on ice?

And I agree. Ackles killed that role. His interactions with Homelander were some of the best scenes in the show thus far.

Yes, they dosed him with the same chemicals that put him in an induced coma, and is currently under CIA surveillance in cryostatis like Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes in Demolition Man

Great episode. Easily the best so far.

Was looking forward to this more than House of Dragons and yet i find myself watching House of Dragons, and not a single episode of the new season of this.

BECAUSE.....political/woke/gay shit. Thought i wasnt that guy, but apparently i am.

Just not looking forward to the gay lover's story lines. Bleh. Gross. Whatever.

And i know it's hypocritical cuz...i mean, GoT is full of gay shit.

I guess it's just different. Different expectation. Different value i find in one show vs the other.

I wanna watch The Boys to laugh and watch shit get ****ed up. /shrug

I don't care about the "woke" stuff, I just think the series is stuck in neutral. Seeing body parts explode and Butcher calling people ****s is only amusing for so long. There is way too much filler, woke or not.

They need to create a more vile antagonist, unlike Homelander who's non-implusive calculating, and faceless. Sister Sage gave the exposition, hopefully Kripke realizes it.

Spoiler!

Or create an OP Russian Dr Doom, and would nod at Liberals Russian collusion accusations after Trump's win and Rocky 4 because it'll be it's 40th anniversary. One of his abilities would be a master strategist like Batman

There’s only so far you can go with this. Walking Dead was way past stale in season 8, yet they kept pumping out the same shit over and over.

Know when to exit. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul knew this. Marvel did not.

They have said the 5th season will be the last one.

kcgreene 06-27-2024 09:53 AM

I haven't watched any of season 4 yet, but season 3 even started to lose momentum with me... It feels like a big chunk of season 3 was "How can we shock you even more with something gross/insane/debased?" instead of "How do we write an appealing and entertaining adaptation of this story for this format?"

I'll give it a shot, just like I give anything a shot, but my hopes are not high.

Create an OP Russian Dr Doom ( different powers but equally as lethal but what gives the edge is his intelligence), which would nod at Liberals Russian collusion accusations after Trump's win and Rocky 4 because it'll be it's 40th anniversary. One of his abilities would be a master strategist like Batman. They can have a Butcher and Homelander team up after the Doom character kills off Ryan somewhere in the first three episodes for Season 5.

ThaVirus 07-12-2024 12:26 PM

Everyone on this show is a terrible person. I loved when New Noir was about to leave so Deep sat him down.

“Vought sent Black Noir into some Indonesian fishing village. We needed to re-route their river to expand a new palm plantation but they were fighting back because they.. need it to live.. or something? I don’t know.” LMAO

And Homelander’s shocked face when Firecracker squirted him with milk was the funniest part of the episode for me.

But the thing about homelander is that he still craves people adoring him. At the beginning it was about EVERYONE loving him. Now it's about getting a cult of people to love him. If he loses that support, then all hell will break loose because that's the only thing keeping him tethered to reality.
