Hard to say. Our demand reduction is a large part of it, but is that a reduction a result of us slipping into recession?

Chicken, egg.

I still believe that crude was vastly over-valued above $100, though.

Not nobody. It's also 100+ octane. If you compare it to the cost of 104 octane unleaded gasoline, its a way better value despite the reduced gas mileage.

I pick up over 75 horsepower by running an extra 6psi boost on E-85. It's a great product for the forced induction folks. I hope it stays around.

I understand what you're saying about commercial viability as 99.9% of people don't care about the octane. But for apples to apples, it's fair to compare the price to 104 octane gasoline.

Between heading back to work from lunch and getting off of work this evening, we dropped from $2.63 to $2.59.

I sincerely hope that I never have to answer the "Hey, Donger!!!? How come prices never fall as fast as they go up!?" question again.

I have no idea, luv. Sans all the economic turmoil, I would say crude should be around $60 to $70.

So theoretically, when crude was $130+, gas was above $4. That means IF crude drops to $60, gas should be $2?

kstater 10-10-2008 06:01 PM

And gas is still $3.39 here.

SAUTO 10-10-2008 06:02 PM

wow its 2.69 here(mid missouri)

Gasoline was $4.11 when crude reached its peak ($147) this year in July. The last time crude was $60, gasoline was ~$2.50/gallon.

If it's been discussed already today then I apologize. Why does OPEC want to decrease production now Donger? Any clue?

To attempt to push the price back up.

Sam Hall 10-10-2008 09:17 PM

I could live with $2 gas, but I want something lower.

Saulbadguy 10-10-2008 09:25 PM

$2.46 in Topeka.

Notice a 13 cent price decrease in one day, at the same 2 stations.
