I kinda doubt it.

But hey, anytime we can give a 1st baseman in his decline years $30 million/season when he's not healthy enough to be expected to run out ground balls in April, clearly that's a no-brainer, right? I mean afterall, on the 20% chance he's approaching some records in over half a decade, surely a month-long PR drive will more than make up for the several years of sub-par production we're getting from the easiest position in baseball to fill.

I don't hate Albert Pujols, but I do care about Cardinal baseball. When your superstar is demanding a contract that will hamstring the organization, I'm not inclined to go looking for excuses for him when he refuses to run out ground balls.

If he's healthy enough to give him a contract that will screw your franchise, he's healthy enough to run 90 ****ing feet 4 or 5 times/gm. If he's not healthy enough to do that, we damn sure shouldn't be tying up the franchise in him.

Drew's best two years as a Cardinal in most categories did not equal what Albert did in ONE of his average years as a Cardinal.

This is BS. Hating on Pujols because he dogs it to first base on occasion is getting real picky. The dude worked his ass off to earn a gold glove on first base. He lead the team in stolen bases just based off of hustle. He runs through a 3rd base coaches signal? How many times has he been thrown out? maybe 1 out of 10 times, if that.

Look at how good of shape he is in. He's got a real comfortable millioniare lifestyle but still wants to be the best.

Hating on Pujols is soooo stupid.

Yeah, Albert must be faking his injury...

/sarcasm

He's not in the lineup today.

What, you didn't read the PD spin the day after?

Evidently the injury was real but it came after his 'burst' of energy when he saw the throw was high and was trying to beat it out.

Maybe if he wasn't walking out of the box to begin with, that 'burst' wouldn't have been necessary. Like any little league coach will tell you, you can't embarass yourself by hustling. They'll also tell you that you're far more likely to get hurt when you're coasting than when you're playing at game-speed.

Like I said - he's either lazy or fragile. As it turns out, he was both.

No thanks on spending $30 million on that guy.

I'm confident I've forgotten more about the sport than you know.

But by all means, continue to give the man a pass for selective hustle. Afterall, it's what Stan and Red would've done - LaRussa told me so.

Nah, I think I'll go ahead and expect a guy that gets paid millions to play a kids game to actually give max effort in every AB for 3 hours/day. If he's unable to do that, he can get his $30 million somewhere else.

Yet you don't see why you wouldn't want the best player in the game to risk injury to a known weak part of his body running out a routine grounder. An injury that could cost most of a season if aggravated enough.

The same guy who busts his ass when it is important like when trying to score runs, make defensive plays etc...Not when he has a 99% chance of being thrown out anyway.

Yes you are a sports genius.

You can play or not play stupid in regard to why Pujols doesn't scream down the line like a beast on a routine grounder yet pitchers do it on a daily bases with no comment or criticism. Why? Because it would be silly for them to risk a hamstring injury or something of the sort on a routine ground out.

Do what you want and continue to tell me about your sports acumen, please.

It won't change the lack of common sense in the things you post.

I don't think DJ nut is a dumbass. Althought his politics may qualify for that label :p

He's a loyal Cardinal fan that is dissapointed in the direction of his team. He blames Pujols too much for the Cardinals direction that he doesn't like. Too many fans are hating on Pujols lately. He is just one of too many.

Dumbass may be a bit harsh, but some of the posts have been well, dumbass.

Hate all you want with the direction the team is going, be frustrated Pujols starts out hitting .150. Be pissed he wants $30MM, fine.

The running down the 1st base line thing is hperbole.

I agree. He hustles in every other aspect of the game. He stays in shape in the off season. He keeps working to make his game better. He's not a lazy player.
