Please, tell me which derogatory terms referring to his sexual orientation aren't homophobic.

:spock: That doesn't even make sense. Is this a trick question? Did someone tell you the term wasn't homophobic?

Were you recently lobotomized? Is there a Radon leak in your house?

It really can't be stated any clearer than that. Martin received text messages that included, in the words of the author of the piece, "Derogatory terms referring to female genitalia and sexual orientation."

I don't 100% know that the sun won't rise tomorrow or that it won't rain vegetable oil next Tuesday, but my experience as a sentient being allows me to be virtually certain that neither will occur.

Similarly, anyone who has lived in this society for more than five minutes is more than capable of realizing what terms Incognito used. Please, though, continue to play the part of the obtuse Sophist reducing even the most elementary elements of this story to the absurd. I'd expect no different than someone who keeps your company.

It is so obviously far from reality. The focus can't be on the neanderthal's complete lack of creativity or sense? I would make a very bad male.

I'm almost positive I wouldn't laugh if he actually pulled the train.

Jonathan Martin, coming from two lawyer parents, just comes off as a sheltered wuss to me still. They insulted and threatened, more than likely in a joking fashion, and he always just laughed it off according to his teammates. If you just keep laughing it off instead of telling them to STFU then they're going to keep doing it.

They think it's funny, it's all a big joke to them, but if you tell them it's not funny by using some sort of intimidation (not necessarily violence because he was told by his GM to punch Incognito in the face) but he's A victim not necessarily THE victim. He'll always be a victim, for the rest of his life. Play the victim and you will be the victim.

We see it everyday with people who don't speak with confidence, who let people walk all over them and always say they're going to stop it but never do because they don't have the balls to stand up to what they're afraid of. He's that guy.

I don't even know what Patteeu is trying to get at anymore.

He thinks Martin is a homo and that's what caused Incognito to act like a mongoloid Neanderthal?

The point is his teammates were grilling this dude for almost two years and it's the second publicly released threat on his family.

Digging to find out more about alleged physical abuse of Jonathan Martin but sounds like incident was last year away from the team facility

It might be if they were actually friends. If they really didn't like each other... then that kind of stuff would easily start a fight. Just depends on how they really felt about each other.

I suppose of all the threats and insults I've heard in my years, that didn't register as a Code Red or anything. Sounded more like a line in a bad porno. Very easily ignored. Unless my sister was a whore.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you. I'm just saying that after years of harassment enough was enough for him. He ratted, I would've taken another path.

I don't think any of these things are bad when viewed in isolation. I think a lot of people can handle this, but from the sound of it, it was clear that Martin wasn't handling it well. That's what bothers me most about it. Let's remind ourselves that these guys were teammates. So for me, the bullying doesn't matter as much as the ineptness of an organization who enabled it.

What other path is there? Take it up with the coaching staff or organization? Because pretty sure he did and they gave him terrible advice. Fight back? Pretty sure fighting a guy like Incognito is a good way to get in a fight with 50 guys in the locker room. Not go along with the hazing? Pretty sure that's a good way to find yourself on the wrong end of a never-ending hell week.

Anyone who thinks there were options that were anything close to easy hasn't been hazed before.

Nah. Fighting him would win fans in the locker room. Half those guys probably hate him.

Katipan 11-07-2013 10:23 PM

Maybe it's like prison. You're supposed to walk up to the biggest guy in the room and stab them with your spork.
