Well there's two options here. He's flat 100% lying and we're screwed... or he totally threw Pioli under the bus there. He basically referred to him the entire interview like a spare part that would not really have any power or say in anything that takes place over the next few weeks. And either way, he doesn't matter because the HC is the most important piece in the football side of the operations now.

**** no it isn't.

I disagree. A great coach means everything in the NFL. If this was baseball then I might agree with you.

anyone else? Brian Billick? are those all the full control guys out there available? quite the short list

Mike Holmgren?

The Koetter interview makes no sense based on what Clark described he wants from his new HC.

Molitoth 12-31-2012 02:21 PM

To me it sounded like Clark will find the HC he wants, and get his opinion on what to do with Pioli. If chemistry is there, then Pioli will be retained in a limited role (maybe just handling player contracts, etc) whereas the head coach will get the power to build the team.

You would think sooner, but I guess they both have TV commitments right now, provided it really is one of those guys.

Gruden + Polian + Geno Smith = city wide JIMP

Based on those statements it sounds like Clark is eliminating the hire of a college coach.

Yeah, I got the same perception. Sounds like he's definitely looking for a retread coach and not a college coach with no NFL experience.

If you've resigned yourself to a retread, Billick is the best you can do, IMO.

The team will certainly have an attitude, a toughness to it. And if you've heard him as an analyst on FOX games, you can tell he realizes how important the QB position is.

The Right 53 disappears immediately. He'll bring in the best players, even if they're not Boy Scouts.

No other names come to mind....Holmgren maybe.

You can probably add Saban to the list. Kelly is who I want. I could be forced to live with Cowher and maybe Reid. We get Chucky and I will be very unhappy.
