Momentum is a narrative-driven myth. You know what drives "momentum"--shitty play on the other side.
No one is saying that Ventura was painting the black out there, but given that Duffy can give you multiple innings, using him instead of Ventura to face the pitcher was a panic move and as a result he saw two batters and you burned a potential pinch runner.
