Shawnee Golf & Country Club - $1,000 initiation fee, $250 a month.
Falcon Ridge - $3,000 initiation fee, $375 a month Canyon Farms - $5,000 initiation fee, $550 a month (I was told) Falcon Valley - very good but only nine holes Sycamore Ridge - No initiation fee, $1250 per year after 1pm which is all I play anyway but 32 min away from me :( Sycamore Ridge 1-6 or 1-7 (they usually start you on the back links style nine first) are the best run of holes of golf in the KC metro area that I've been able to play. |

I was hoping Koepka and DeChambeau would be paired tomorrow but Koepka is having problems.
Another old dude in the running. Go old dudes! |

They have the same score now (E). Edit: Actually, it's impossible considering the scores already in the clubhouse. |
Mickelson wins the award for ugliest golf bag.
|
This is getting good now. 10 guys within 1 shot of the lead and many of the big names. DeChambeau, Koepka, Rory, Oosthuizen, Morikawa, Rahm.
|
This leaderboard is crazy.
|
I always say Koepka with a Russian accent for some reason
|
Calling Tarzan!
|
Starting to look like a US Open now. Morikawa with a disaster of a hole, Bryson with two bogeys, Rory bogeys. Oosthuizen in trouble. Hughes literally just hit a ball that got stuck up in a tree.

Gap tooth Louis dick-blocking again for more famous players. Did the same shit to Phil at the PGA Championship.

I think the world has lost its mind |
Rahm...nice putt
|
Rahm coming in clutch.
|
Would rather the gap tooth win than the fat ass Rahm.
|
Louis laying up on the last was absolutely gutless. Even if he had only a 1% chance of holding the green, that was pure money management. Guess he wanted to preserve that extra 400K over the chance of a US Open.

I can tell from his voice that is ****face asshole Paul Azinger, one of the biggest pompous douchebags to ever play on the PGA Tour.
That guy has the personality of a snail and the humor of a mortician. Hate that guy. Met him and a douche and another buddy had a run in with him on the driving range. |
Even if he had to try and keep all his weight on his left and hit a chop with driver he should have done it instead of laying up. I like Louis, but that was like punting on third and long when down 4 from the +35 with a minute left and no timeouts.

I'd rather an American won but Rahm is deserving and after his COVID DQ it's a good story line. I missed the end so I didn't see what Louis O did.

An unforgivable mistake in that situation. Par 17 and birdie 18, the easiest finishing hole in us open history, and he’s in a playoff. |
I'm just glad a player with a Dad bod won the tournament..
|
I felt it in my gut watching Louie O's drive on 17
|
Quote:
Louie sold the farm with his drive on 17 and gave himself a shot to hole a wedge at 18, which was all he had after his tee ball. |
Louie didn’t lose it. Rahm stepped up and won it. There’s no other way to look at it.
|
Quote:
What he did was just a concession, plain and simple. From a pure money management perspective, it makes all the sense in the world. It ensured 2nd place outright and extra few hundred K (and there's no doubt that's exactly why he did it given that 6 is a strong possibility if he takes that shot on). But from a competitive standpoint? In that situation? With the US Open on the line? Weak. |

This entire discussion reminds me a bit of the ending of Tin Cup with Louis taking the role of Don Johnson and laying up on the last to take himself out of winning contention for the USO. |
Quote:
Mickelson actually had his caddie tend the flag for a shot almost identical to the wedge Louie played yesterday at Torey Pines, a year or so ago, knowing he had a legitimate chance to hole the shot. Can't recall a pro every having his caddie tend the pin for a shot like Louie's - that would be hilarious. Louie played the odds to win, not get second place. |
I'm not sure why he didn't give it a go either. Something out to the right with a draw on it. If it works, you have a putt for the tie. If it goes in the water. Drop, hitting 4. Up and down to save par and solo 2nd. Up and 2 putt for tie for 2nd.
Seems worth the gamble. Even as good as these guys are, chance of holing one from 70 yards or so is virtually nil. |
The chances of holing out are obviously higher for a wedge than running it on to the green, but it's still negligible in both cases.
A layup is the better shot if your sole aim is shooting a lower score on your round there (and by extension, preserving your higher paycheck). For the purposes of actually winning the US Open in that context, though? It essentially shuttered his chances. |
Quote:
I'm guessing if you go shot for shot, one from the rough at 247 yards out and one from the fairway at 70 yards out, that the guy from 247 chases it on the green before the guy holes it from 70. |

At right is the seventh hole."/>
As you look from green to tee box, the shot came from the front left corner of the first bunker on the right side, correct? |
I tuned in late and I thought I heard one of the commentators call his decision "stupid." Pretty blunt.
|
Maybe it was the middle bunker on the right side looking green to tee. If I recall correctly, Hughes hit from the bunker on the left side, green to tee, and they said he was 227 out and Louie O was 247 out. Still an opening for a draw from the rough to chase it on. And if it goes in the water, par is still a good possibility for sole possession of 2nd place.

Anyone watching ‘Capital Ones the Match’ ?
Mickelson/Tom Brady vs DeChambeau/Aaron Rodgers |

I hope Brady steps in a Gopher hole snaps the Achilles a gopher bites his toe it gets infected and Haglands sets in.

I completely forgot this was even happening. What an idiotic time for this. I guess they didn’t realize the NBA finals would be starting on the same day so they were probably just hoping for a slow sports day, but why would anyone watch that shit? I don’t even see what channel it’s on. Did they try to make this a pay per view or something?

I played my first competitive round of golf in probably 6-7 years today. I played a Club Championship Sr match and lost 3-2. My putting was horrific. There's not a 3ft putt I can't miss:shake: After the match was on I had the ball in position to win but my putting....ROFL My opponent played well and he deserved to win so congrats to him but oh my....my putting...ROFL
Everybody hates losing but I enjoyed being in competition. |
Anyone use any online golf instruction? I'm joining https://www.cogornogolf.com. I've found his video's help me the most on YouTube. Him and Clay Ballard but Clay Ballard infiltrates your email and annoys me more. $59 a month and going up to $79.
My hope is I can get down to a 1 handicap again. After picking the game up again last April, I've gotten down from a 11 to a 5 but still a ways to go. |

But my last two rounds Monday and yesterday at the same course, I shot a 43 on the back 9 on Monday and a 46 on the front 9 yesterday. So that's an 89 unofficially. The lessons i took the last two years are really helping, I just need to avoid the blowup holes and improve my short game and think I can shoot in the low 90's with the occasional high 80 round. |

I'm such a terrible golfer, but I finally bought some decent clubs and I've been practicing with a net. Compressing the ball always seemed counterintuitive to me and I just never got it. I've been watching videos and doing a bunch of drills and it started to sink in.
I've had a bum shoulder for weeks, but today it finally felt well enough to hit a few hundred into the net. OH BOY something with it clicked in my head today, and all of the tips and instructions all started to make logical sense. I was striking the ball like I never have. I've never been able to hit a hybrid to save life, and today I was bombing them almost as far as I hit my driver. It made me understand why people are able to hit those shots so far, with such little effort power-wise. Anyhow, I swear I shaved a few strokes off my game today...when it finally all sorta "clicked" Can't wait to go play this week. |
This won't help your game, but I put a dashcam in my golf cart. This time of year in Florida, May to October, is the tropical season (hurricane season to most). Basically it can rain any afternoon. Friday 7/2 we only got in 3 holes of golf, Friday 7/9 we got in 15 holes. To try out my dashcam and to use the free Windows video editor, I put together a 5 minute video of one such short day of golf.
The Villages is about 60 miles northwest of Orlando and 60 miles south of Gainesville at the intersection of I-75 and the Florida Turnpike. We have 12 championship golf courses, 10 of which are 27 hole layouts and 40 executive courses of nine holes, there is more golf holes here than anywhere in the world. Everyone here owns their own golf cart, population is 135,000 and they estimate about 75,000 golf carts. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/dkpZwaZzEco" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Only took one day for this week's Bryson controversy. After a middling 1st round at the Open he went to the press conference and said the reason he struggled was his 5-degree driver "sucks"... and then Cobra responded. LMAO

It looked like He a Matt Kutcher got into it on the practice tee this morning. It looked like Brandon had his heels on the barrier of his tee box with the driver and his long ass club and swing. Kutcher had his ball teed up near center but the swing sure looked close on the backswing. Kucher said something and Brandon point with his club to his front and back barrier. Kutcher said something he didn't look too happy and Brandon teed the ball to the far end. While it's Brandon's right to tee anywhere in the barrier why be a dick, just be safe with the long club. |

bet it was in 1903. honestly dont know it wouldn't now. My dad had an old master 803 that was popularized by Arnold Palmer that is in my brother's possession now. I loved that thing so I bought a Wilson 8803 at of all places Kmart in the 70's. I still have and use it often it was designed pretty much by Arnie's putter he used pigeon toed style.
