Back in the summer of 2020, when gas was still cheap, I bought a used 2017 Toyota Prius with 42K miles for about $17K. It wasn't my first choice in the long list of vehicles I was considering, but I could at least justify it since I had to drive over 50 miles a day round trip to and from work.
What I really wanted was a good, slightly used 4x4 truck. I spent the previous couple of years looking for the right deal, but never could find what I wanted. The Prius now has 74K miles, and if you were to find a similar one at any dealer within 200 miles of KC, it would cost at least $20K. Probably closer to $22K. I never thought I'd be happy that I bought a Prius, but I am now since prices are out of control. https://charts.gasbuddy.com/ch.gasch...t=US%20%24%2FG https://charts.gasbuddy.com/ch.gasch...t=US%20%24%2FG |

We had a 30¢ cost increase at the pump a couple days ago. We went from $3.49 to $3.79 around Wichita Ks.

I think we will be looking at that price as a bargain, in the near future. I have no idea where the price is going to top out this go around per barrel. $170, $180, $190, $200? Who knows, but it's going to be ugly. |

I don't know what that translates to dollars/gallon. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">JPMorgan analysts says Brent crude could end the year at $185 a barrel if Russian supply continue to be disrupted <a href="https://t.co/pyeKG3IcCR">https://t.co/pyeKG3IcCR</a></p>— Bloomberg (@business) <a href="https://twitter.com/business/status/1499421452860284928?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 3, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
