I do like adding Westbrook to the WS roster. If Loshe or Jackson can't make it out of the 3rd inning in Texas hopefully he can thrown that ground ball successfully and maybe keep it in the ball park.

I think Mr. Fly ball here comes the fastball Jackson is going to get rocked by the fastball hitting Rangers.

Yup, Westbrook absolutely needed to be added to the roster and held in waiting for Jacksons start in Arlington.

You couldn't pick a worse spot for a guy like Jackson, IMO. That lineup in that park will very likely crush him quickly.

LaRussa needs to have him on a very short leash and will almost certainly end up going to Westbrook before all is said and done.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-18-2011 09:42 PM

Given the fact that TLR was, rightly, loathe to use McClellan, there is no point to have that sumbitch on the roster. Westbrook makes sense. If Schumaker was taking someone's place, I'd wish that it would be Theriot's, as Chambers could be an invaluable resource as a pinch runner in a tight game.

Personally, I'd almost rather we have someone like Tony Cruz on the roster over Laird.

Kind of minor points in the great scheme of things.

It's obvious that Duncan and TLR also see that Jackson matches up against Texas in Arlington horribly. TLR has had a quick trigger in the playoffs so far. Hopefully, he continues his new found managerial style.

Westbrook makes me nervous, but I think this is a good move - well, not good, but they best shitty option available. His AL experience will hopefully be a plus.

You and me both. If he elevates his pitches he will get killed and fast. But assuming that TLR is only thinking of using Westbrook in texas and only if Loshe and or Jackson blow a gasket early and we are in trouble anyway.

Rangers nuked their Japanese relievers...

Rangers make adjustments to Series roster
Pitcher Lowe, catcher Treanor in; relievers Tateyama, Uehara out

I wanted to see Koji do well on the big stage, too. Bummer.

I sure hope Carp isn't BS'ing and he is really fine. :spock:

I'm only worried about biased umpiring if we're playing a big money east coast team. None of those are left, so it's no longer an issue.

BigRedChief 10-19-2011 07:31 PM

man these guys are dangerous. Leave one pitch up in the zone and its gone,

yeah Freese just got under it a little or it would have been 4 runs in that inning.

Frazod 10-19-2011 07:55 PM

Man we need some runs. Carpenter's the only pitcher in our rotation that I trust, and we're absolutely wasting a good outing.

****.

Both Freese and Furcal got under the ball too much.

Frazod 10-19-2011 08:20 PM

Oh crap.

Frazod 10-19-2011 08:21 PM

At least LaRussa isn't farting around pulling ineffective pitchers.

If he'd managed like this during the regular season......

KC_Connection 10-19-2011 08:25 PM

Seems odd to me that TLR didn't go with Dotel to start the inning against their best RHB's, Cruz and Napoli. Now he's using Rzep now instead of later against Hamilton.

Frazod 10-19-2011 08:27 PM

C'mon, Scrabble!

Oh, I know. I watched him for 3 years with the Jays get tons of GBs off RHBs. I think I would have preferred to have him available for Hamilton later, but it worked out anyway.

Frazod 10-19-2011 08:40 PM

Damn, he got under it.

Yeah, but this is the World Series. It was unthinkable that the Diamondbacks could not only tie a game, but win it against Mariano Rivera 10 years ago. You never know.

I'm not sure why Mike Napoli, the guy with the 2nd best OPS in baseball this season, is batting #7 for the Rangers. Only ended up with 3 AB today.

The Cards must thank Ron Washington for this.

Their best 3 hitters didn't do shit against him. Doesn't look like one more swing would have won the game.
