It's incredibly hard to land a top 5 QB. Sometimes you just have to go with the #12 guy and hope for the best. |

There's a reason top QBs, are the top QBs. They don't grow on trees. You can't expect Chiefs to have an elite QB every single year. |

Alex was too smart for his own good.
I've often imagined Smith's dropbacks where he literally can see all of the "Stat That" numbers floating over everyone's heads. Where you see guys make incredible plays that had like a 2% chance of getting made, but they got made because the qb took the shot. Alex never took those shots, because he literally knew the numbers. He always checked it down and took the high percentage plays. I think if the guy just let go of that shit and played to win instead of playing not to mess up, he could have been really good. Checkdown or sack was never going to win anything. |
The Chiefs passing offense probably averaged a rank of 22nd or some shit over Alex Smith's tenure and we're suppose to act like he was the savior that came in and Peyton Manning'd the entire offense simply because he was risk averse and didn't throw a lot of interceptions...

I'm very happy I don't have to watch him QB my team anymore. That's about the nicest thing I can say.
And when he left so did the nuthugging alex queers. God those guys were the worst. |
1-4 in the playoffs. And that lone win was against the Hoyer led Texans. Alex from all accounts seems like a great human being, but he's mediocrity incarnated as a QB.

It's on management to know he didn't have that next gear to get us into the SB. |

However, he did lead the NFL in deep passing in 2017. Must have been eating his Wheaties. |

Ring of Honor inductees should be, you know, actually a PLUS to a football team. Not risk averse chickenshits who get dragged to success by a good roster around them, elite, rare playmakers (Jamaal Charles, Travis Kelce, Hill) and shrink in the playoffs/big moments. He's a great person and I wish him the best. But Alex Smith didn't do anything special in KC and should not be enshrined for it. |

It was like watching a dumpster fire of a kid admit they have a problem, get off drugs, seek counseling... and then a month later hook up with his druggie on-again-off-again ex while thinking it'll be different this time around.
And you know they'll be moderately happy, at least for a while, but a big part of you would rather see them struggle without anyone for a little while than go through the inevitable heartbreak once again, because you know the ex will only work out if they're put in the greatest of situations where they would basically ride the coattails of everyone around them. And hey, it was objectively a success for a few years, because they quickly turned around their life and weren't a complete dumpster fire.... and that was the crux of the argument, people who enjoyed stepping over the insanely low bar of not being one of the worst human beings possible and striving for average, and others pointing out that maybe they should strive for something better for the first time in 3+ decades by stepping out of their comfort zone a bit. |

There are 3-5 QBs that every fan base would be happy with. Outside of them, there is never ending wishing for a QB of that caliber. CowboysZone has Dak Duels all day. |

During the season? Have an Alexexual fight! During the offseason? Alexexual fight! Training camp? Preseason? Draft? Alexexual fight! Again, if you long for those days, then I guess this is the thread for you! |

Hell, this thread was bumped 4 years after he left and here you are again. Maybe you like talking about him. |
alex was the leto atreides beta that brought us our alpha paul atreides named patrick
Fear is the drive-killer. Fear is the checkdown that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over the first down line and through me. And when it has gone past I will review the film to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only touchdowns will remain. |

And don't act like you were above the fray for those 5 years. It was everywhere even if you wanted to avoid it, man. There was always somebody who was going to bring it up and have the fight. Your only option to avoid it was to drastically decrease your participation in the football threads. |

BECAUSE OF THAT CALL Alex didn't have a chance to heroically lose in the AFC Championship game, making the Chiefs waffle on drafting a QB. INSTEAD, Chiefs brass decided...welp, we scored 16 points in a playoff game with a noodly armed **** and blew a 2 seed...let's move on. and they did |

There are actually people on this board who believe Mahomes wouldn't be successful had it not be for Alex Smith. They walk among us. Think about that. And let that sink in.

So glad he is gone. i went to his last game as a chief. Only time I was glad the chiefs lost
|
You crybabies are too emotional. You act like Alex Smith wanted the Chiefs to lose.
Alex Smith did the best he could for us. You can't ask for anything more. He always gave his all. If it wasn't good enough, you guys should be pissed at Reid for bringing him here in the first place. |

A lot of those Clay just posted were just errant passes. You throw the ball 400-500 times in a year, some are going to sail or hit the dirt.
I was re-watching our game at LAC the other day and had completely scrubbed Mahomes' miss to Hardman in the end zone on 4th down from my memory. I can't find the gif, but it was here. Down 1 with 1:52 left in the 3rd. https://static.www.nfl.com/image/pri...kk4y0kh3se7ugq |
ban this ****

LMAO

Mahomes definitely has some bad throws, missed open receivers, etc just like Smith. The main difference is Mahomes makes infinitely more throws to make up for those misses and the Chiefs don't need an absolute perfect game from the rest of the team to win. Thats why it was so important that Alex Smith not be the one making the **** ups.

ThaVirus = JENKINSWINS

I could watch shitty throws from past KC QBs all day. Comedy gold.
|
If Alex Smith ever becomes any part of the Chiefs organization I will lose it. A guy that talented and he played like the ultimate pussy and stat padder. I dont care how good looking and nice he was. How he played football is an insult. He would be the worst coach that ever lived.
Smith coaching: Ok guys we are down by 10 with 11 min left in the 4th quarter. Make sure on 3rd and 10 to tuck it and run for 5 yards to get better position on a punt. You never want to open yourself up to make a mistake or a turnover, plus that hurts your QB rating. |
