Nice start. Considering the rest of the staff, winning Carp's start tonight was super important.
FWIW, we haven't lost a postseason game on nights I've worn my 1942 World Series t-shirt and enjoyed at least two bottle of Tank 7. (NLCS Games 5/6, WS Game 1) Looks like I have laundry to do before tomorrow night. |

That infrared feature was plain stupid. I do miss the pitch/strike zone feature that TBS had in the bottom right corner, Fox through it up there once. I think McCarver was drunk at the end. How many times did he have to say "excuse me" and correct a name he'd either mispronounced or completely blew? He really sucked ace tonight. But Motte, he was on! |

Plays like this is why there should be instant replay. |
Holy hell that was a good way to start it off.

And enough of memory lane,I'm off to let you guys enjoy your win. |

Gotta give it up to TLR. Every move he made worked out.:thumb:

Can't express enough. Stl having home field is huge. It's a fair ballpark.
Texas won't be able to crank as many homeruns in Stl and I think in Texas Stl can match their power. Go Cards! |

Ya let's hope Garcia doesn't shit the bed tomorrow.

Hell of a game. Hell of a game. That Texas lineup just absolutely scares the shit out of me.
Yadi hosing Kinsler and Carp's diving tag of the base were huge momentum plays early. Aside from Napoli's mammoth bomb, there weren't too many balls hit very hard. The two balls hit hardest by St. Louis were both off of Freese's bat. I think that we did a very good job of taking pitches early. Our hitters looked comfortable and relaxed, and they put a fair amount of stress on Wilson, who was effectively wild for most of the night. It looks like the Beltre ground out in the 9th was a good break, and the bullpen was nails tonight save for: Rhodes, who still absolutely terrifies me. He can't throw strikes with any consistency Salas, whose arm just looks worn out. He was topping out at 89-90 as opposed to 92 in the LCS, and his pitches were all over the middle of the plate. Dotel and Rzepczynski were awesome tonight, and Motte slammed the ****in' door. NO MORE!! Winning that first game is always a big relief, but we proved in the last two series that it's not an absolute must. However, given that Jaime Mulder is up tomorrow, you had to think that we were in desperate need of a win tonight, and Carp had just enough, and Master Allen came through in the clutch. Damned good win. |

That's him in a nutshell at home. I don't expect greatness but he is due a good home game. Let us pray. |

I think the fact Texas has never seen Garcia helps.
He seems to struggle more when teams have seen him before. |

One thing that I'm glad about: No excessive rain delay tonight. I was terrified that we were going to get 2-3 innings and and then Carp would be forced out by an extended rain delay, further taxing our pen.
One thing that pissed me off: Jay bunting Furcal over to 2nd, thus taking the bat out of Albert's hands. |
Another great game by the bullpen and Carpenter.
I put some money on STL at +145. To even teams and I like the mojo STL has. I thought Texas would be pumped and determined after losing last year, but I haven't seen that, even in the DET series. |

I went to one game in the new stadium in Arlington. A nice place although I got stuck in the right field corner. I wanted to be in the left field power alley and wouldn't you know Cal Ripken hit a ball right where I wanted to be. |
Looks like Albert got his donuts. These keep showing up after wins according to @CardsInsider.

Personally, I'm terrified of tonight's start. These guys are going to pull Garcia's cock through his ass. A nibbling soft-tosser who has a problem keeping the ball down against a bunch of right handed power bats. Not good. |

The media's focus should be on Master Allen's high level of play & not on me. During the regular season he hit .315 with a .917 OPS! 30 minutes ago » http://a1.twimg.com/profile_images/1...ise_normal.jpg TortyCraig Torty Craig Berkman brought over a LOBster burger. "Here ya go, Nick. Have one just in case." "OK," said Punto. "Shredder'll have a burger." 1 hour ago » http://a1.twimg.com/profile_images/1...ise_normal.jpg TortyCraig Torty Craig "Nick, why aren't you eating?" I asked. Punto said, "Texas is scared of Shredder so they walk me when I'm up with ducks on the pond." 1 hour ago » http://a1.twimg.com/profile_images/1...ise_normal.jpg TortyCraig Torty Craig "Chef Rhodes, bring out today's dish," called Berkman. "Like, at the launder's?" "Yes," said Carp. Punto: "Why would you ruin a perfectly dirt-soiled jersey by washing it?" 1 hour ago » http://a1.twimg.com/profile_images/1...ise_normal.jpg TortyCraig Torty Craig "Also," said Punto. "Could I have your Game 1 jersey to add to my collection of dirt-stained jerseys?" "No," said Carp. "It's being washed." 1 hour ago » http://a1.twimg.com/profile_images/1...ise_normal.jpg TortyCraig Torty Craig "Sure," said Carp. "You should only #$%^@# do it to either avoid a fielder's tag or to tag the bag as a fielder. It's faster to run thru it" 1 hour ago » http://a1.twimg.com/profile_images/1...ise_normal.jpg TortyCraig Torty Craig Punto & Schumaker approached Carpenter. Punto: "Hey, um, Carp, we were wonderin' if you could give us some pointers on sliding into 1B." |

If historical trends hold up, winning Game 1 win was important for the Cardinals. The winner of Game 1 has proceeded to win seven out of the last eight series, and 12 of the last 14 World Series. And according to ESPN, there have been 102 World Series played with a best-of-seven format. And in the best-of-seven configuration, the winner of Game 1 has captured the World Series 62.7 percent of the time (62 of 102.)

Man, If we just had waino and Carp for at least 4 games. |

His point still remains, though. Winning Game 1 is always important. It's pretty self-evident that playing .500 ball thereafter is easier than winning 4 of 6. |
An advantage, but not an overwhelming number. I prefer the last game view. The winner of the last game of the World Series has won the series 100% of the time.
|
I have my rally towel from the game winning WS game out to produce some good karma. The WS hat I purchased at the game. A piece of the 2006 Home dugout Bench from Bush to rub for luck. A piece of Stan the Man's game used bat, A piece of Bob Gibson's jersey, a piece of Ozzie's glove and a piece of Brocks cleats. The mojo had better be strong.
|
I need a ****ing drink and he hasn't thrown a pitch yet.

Kinsler was really slow down the line. Does he have a leg injury?

Get that cement mixer down, Garcia. Shit.

Hopefully Hamilton continues to hit like Ryan Howard, but if Garcia gets the ball up to Napoli and Cruz like he did to Hamilton, he's going to get murdered.
|
One good thing about going to Texas: Craig can hit second rather than Jay, who has been abysmal outside of two games this PS.

For some reason when talking about bad defense and now being better they always fail to mention Jay over Rasmus.
Rasmus was irratic as shit. |
Jay has hit a ball hard how many times this post season?

Hamilton being hurt will likely change this whole WS.

Maybe Hamilton will get really frustrated and start doing rails off of some stripper in East St. Louis.

****. Bloop hit.
Get your shit together, Garcia. |
Here we go. Grow some nuts Garcia.
