In that case, Guthrie has been our #2 the last two years too. He's our #5 starter. We keep resigning him because he stays healthy and eats innings. Just like last night. He saved our bullpen in a game he would not have won, even if he pitched a perfect game. Those guys are worth $10 million a year these days.

Although I think you could make the argument he's been our 2nd best starter this year. But that's not the role he's supposed to play. So now we're going to argue that our #5 should be pitching like a 2, but he's still pitching like a 5 so he's a waste, but our rotation doesn't need any help. Great argument.

Yeah, Rany's last tweet on the matter, as tk87 alluded to earlier, is confusing as hell. It's easy to get pissed at the offense after it posts a goose egg, but how anyone can look at this starting rotation and come to the conclusion that it's not a huge need, as in need #1, I'm not sure.
