So are we paying Moore all that money to spell Simmon’s injury or what?

What’s wrong with Simmons, Moore, Humphrey, Smith, Taylor?

Dude got paid, he’s going from backup to starter.

Why not Moore > Sua @ LG, considering he’s getting paid?

$15m isn't crazy I dunno

It's 5% of the teams entire cap.

It's damn significant.

Simmons isn't starting this year. If we're lucky he'll play some mop up snaps in December.

Think there's a reasonable chance Nourzad ends up a better guard than Kingsley. He's probably a C, but I could absolutely see him ending up as the better option of the 2.

He did? I don't remember it that way. Better than he looked at LT but good?

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if at some point they don't line up during training camp with Nourzad at C and Humphrey at LG. They should try all combinations to try and come up with an O Line that actually protects the QB.

This could turn out to be true. Or he is worked into the starting spot about midway through the season. Hell he could end up on IR to start the season and then be brought in at the window. Could end up a redshirt season.

I said I was intrigued by the idea.

I would think Simmons has a shot at winning the starting LT job in training camp, I get a sense of that from watching Reid's interviews about Simmons. Also, I get a sense that Taylor does not have the RT position locked down, either and could open the door for Moore who Andy thinks can play either LT or RT based on interviews

Got to chime in here....It was a an extremely small sample size. In a meaningless game for the Chiefs, in which their offense was vanilla as vanilla can be. He was not asked to do much. And one could argue that he also "looked good" week 1, then what happened? Far too small of a sample size to draw any conclusions imo.

Here's what we do know, we know he cannot play LT in the NFL at this point. And the Chiefs know it as well, or they wouldn't have gone to the lengths they have, to replace him. But that's okay, if he turns out to be a decent guard, then he was worth it. He'll get the chance, but that game in Denver means nothing to me.

Enjoy 5% of our cap for our starting left tackle while you can.

If Simmons works out he's gonna demand insane money

Well that would be worst case scenario. If we have to make a mid season switch at LT, something has gone really wrong.

Didn't say it would happen out of necessity. Simmons just may need a little more time to be ready and starting out with the vet is the better move. So nothing would have had to go wrong per se. At this point we don't know how it's going to go and that's what I was pointing out.

Oh I'm fine with 5% of the cap for a starting LT. Elated, in fact.

It's if he's the BACKUP LT or swing tackle that I'm taking umbrage with, and that's what some folks are suggesting.

That a dude coming off a nasty knee injury -- a rookie no less -- is going to come in and push a guy to the bench who's responsible for 5% of our cap. Or funnier still, the 2 year starter here who's been outstanding in the playoffs on our way to a championship and another AFC championship and who's responsible for damn near 10% of our cap.

I'm just saying - it's not nothing. It's a fine figure for ANY viable starter. I mean name a position on the team and in a vacuum, there's an argument for being willing to pay that amount for a starting caliber player. Probably not RB, but damn near everywhere else -- it's at worst, a TOLERABLE number for a starting caliber player.

I'm just saying that I wouldn't hand-waive the consequences of just benching the guy.
